Did you know that grip strength correlates with longevity? Grip strength is a decent proxy for overall strength, and overall strength is a decent proxy for lean muscle mass, and lean mass is a metabolic powerhouse crucial for hormonal health, bone strength, and more.

Here are some of the ways I like to train grip strength: passive hang and inverted dips.

Absolutely fascinating! The link between grip strength and longevity underscores the importance of overall strength and its broader impact on health. Your training methods, especially with passive hangs and inverted dips, sound like effective ways to enhance grip strength and, in turn, support various aspects of well-being. 💪

It being a proxy doesn't mean training grip strength in particular translates to that supposed longevity. It's a general measurement of health - like you pointed out at the start, strong forearms in particular doesn't determine life expectsncy, overall strength does.

I had heard grip strength helped people catch themselves and avoid falls.

Interesting. Grip strength is the first survival sign from birth. And it’s necessary for climbing.

Kind of find it amusing that you just said that grip strength does not cause longer life by itself, and yet you are focused on having a stronger grip
