I live in Canada, our nickels come in 3 different mixes. Up to and including 1981 all Canadian nickels were 100% pure nickle. 1982 - 1999 25% nickel and 75% copper 2000 and later, nickel plated steel. Every week I go to the bank, buy 60 dollars worth of nickels, sort them into 4 bins 100%, 25%, American and steel. I re wrap the steel ones and they go back to the bank. I've been doing this for 14 years. Friends, co workers, wife, bank tellers, anybody that hears about what I do looks at me like i'm some kind of nut! I am, but that's the wrong reason. Anyhooo, I've seen nothing about the price of nickel in the MSM at all! LME halts trading for 2 days, and not a peep? Did I miss it? I had to go looking for news about what was up with nickel, and that's a good thing. Because once the "cat gets outta the bag", things are gonna change. What am I gonna do with them? I don't know yet, but the pure ones are definitely keepers. If I lived in the U.S. I would be buying as many nickels as possible, RIGHT NOW! You can't lose. Betcha within a short time Canadian and Mexican scrap metal dealers will be buying U. S. nickels by the pound. So in a nutshell, Shut up and buy nickels. And if anyone asks! You're a collector looking for special ones.

I'm not saying one should or shouldn't hoard or melt coins, etc. But would like to mention something as food for thought...

Many people use the words "legal" and "lawful" interchangeably, but they are two different words with different meanings.

Are you a man, woman, or person? Learn definitions (get a law dictionary). Then learn about statutes/codes & which are positive law and to whom they apply. What you THINK you know may be incorrect.

When I heard the suggestion of reading a Black's Law dictionary, my immediate thought was that it sounded much like watching paint dry. When I heard that same suggestion again - I figured that was a sign that I should most definitely be checking it out...and SO GRATEFUL that I did. I now carry a pocket edition (about $7) with me at all times. It is fascinating and opened my eyes to so much. We REALLY should've been taught a lot of this in school, but I've my own perception as to why we weren't.

Once you know, you know. Then decisions need to be made about where the world is headed, which kind of world we intend to leave behind for our future generations, & to act accordingly.

BE better, but DO better too.

I've been pulling nickels out of my change for a couple of years and have picked up rolls from stores. the worst thing that could happen is the keep there face value

I love your professionalism and enthusiasm in your videos. I remember viewing a video on your channel a few months ago where you talked about bitcoin and your confidant Brett Steenbarger, who has been a huge part of your Journey; I'm pleased I reached out to him as you suggested since his one-on-one sessions have really helped me develop. Thank you so much for helping me avoid mistakes and achieve greater returns by copying his daily cause of action. I've already grown my 1.7 btc to 6.5 btc since January. I also think you should produce more videos like that since it will help people figure out who to utilise to get a better one-on-one experience and prevent getting scammed, making bad decisions, and having better outcomes. Thank you for the information.

The price that coinflation is using to calculate the value of nickel is $17.3212/lb, which is quite a bit lower than the price after Monday's spike up. I think their price stopped updating when the LME halted trading. I read that the price hit $100, 000/ton at the peak, and that comes out to $50/lb, so the actual melt value now is actually higher than what coinflation is reporting!

Great video. I'm Canadian and often hunt nickel rolls. Our nickels are 99.9% nickel. Almost 15 cents per nickel 1981 and before.

I work in a vault and fill bank branch currency and coin orders. Had two branches order $1600 each in Nickels yesterday. Figured it had to do with this. Also a lot of people are withdrawing accounts so the branches are ordering large amounts of money to cover. Almost like a mini bank run.

I save all my 1982 & older pennies. Only recently did I find out about mint error coins. As far as saving pennies & nickels for their melt value, I will stick with silver, especially Constitutuional silver.

Yes indeed. I have been pulling every nickel I get as well as the copper cents. Keep on stacking SD 👊🏻

With the prices starting to go up, and the change of things in the last couple years, I would love to hear an update about Nickel Bullion! Keep up the great videos!

I have been saving all my coins for years now, because I collect coins anyway, but as I collected coins from other countries. I noticed the quality in metals used corresponded with times of hardship. I figured that it would be a good time to just save it all.
I buy used money bags, and just fill them up with coins, separated of course.
Glad to see others doing this as well.

Great video thanks for explaining the breakdown. Read an article that went over it also. The down side is if you hoard nickles and the metal prices go down . Then you also take an inflation hit as well because you could have put that money into something else. It's interesting as hell though, thanks for letting us know about it.

I’ve been hoarding pre-82 cents since 82. I told my wife if I die, I’d rather she buried them in the backyard than take them to the bank if they cannot be melted. I know a nickel is worth 8-9 cents now…. I horde them too. Been looking at coinflation since 05.

You may not be able to melt US nickels, but you can melt older Canadian nickels (you have to get ones that are older than 2000). That said I'd rather use silver if I really need to barter. It's worth noting that Canada removed their penny from circulation in 2012. I expect that the US will do that before too long since inflation is going to make them cost too much to produce. Thanks!

I was thinking about making this same video yesterday. I Went around to all the banks and the most they would give me is $30 face at a time. Hey I’ll keep doing it. Good extra weight to keep the safe heavy too.

I was hoarding the 35% war nickels and buffalos and the ones with Vs, but heck, I love those regular ones too.

With the increase sales and pushing EVs, physical copper and silver demands will also go up due to manufacturing. This will drive those prices up fast.

I just exchanged 4 rolls of nickels at the bank for paper currency, but after seeing your video I will start saving them. Thanks for information.

Have $188 in nickels in a, 30 cal ammo can. Worth $301 last I checked. Have a can of 82 and earlier pennies too. Some 82 pennies are zinc composition, made from Sep or Oct on.
