Prophesies of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in the Bible – New Testament - Dr Zakir Naik

Now let’s discuss the Prophecy of Prophet Muhammad (saws) in the New Testament. As far as the Christians are concerned whatever is mentioned in the Old Testaments they have to believe because it is a part of the scripture that’s part of the Bible. And Allah says in the Qur’an in Surah A’araaf chapter 7 verse 157

“They follow the unlettered Prophet which is mentioned in their law and Gospel”

It’s further mentioned in Surah Saff chapter no. 61 verse no. 6 that Jesus Christ (pbuh) says to Bani Israel, The children of Isreal “I’ve been sent as a Messenger to you confirming what came before me and giving glad tidings of a Messenger to come whose name shall be Ahmad” and when we read the new testament there are several prophecies of Prophet Muhammad (saws) mentioned in the New Testament.

It’s mentioned in the Gospel of John chapter no. 14 verse no. 16 it says, Jesus Christ (pbuh) says

“I shall pray to my father to send you a comforter who shall abide with you forever “

It’s mentioned in the Gospel of John chapter no. 15 verse no. 26
“And when the comforter will come whom my father will send he will glorify me.”

It’s mentioned in the Gospel of John chapter no. 16 verse no. 7
“Nevertheless I tell you the truth it is expedient for you that I go away, for if I go not away the comforter shall not come, for if I depart shall I send him”

Many of the Christians say that this comforter refers to the Holy Spirit.

Now carefully note the prophecy of Gospel of John chapter no. 16 verse no. 7 says, Jesus Christ (pbuh) is saying

“Nevertheless I tell you the truth it is expedient for you that I go away, for if I go not away the comforter shall not come, for if I depart shall I send him”

The criteria for the comforter to come are that Jesus Christ (pbuh) should depart only if he departs the comforter will come. We know that the Holy Spirit was there when Jesus Christ (pbuh) was being baptized; the Holy Spirit was also there before Jesus Christ (pbuh) was born he was in the womb of Elizabeth several places it’s mentioned in the Bible.

So surely this comforter cannot refer to the Holy Spirit and further more the word comforter, if you go to the Greek Aramaic the present scripture it says it is “PARACLETE” and they translated as “COMFORTER”.

Paraclete actually means an Advocate and if you go into research the right word is “PARACLETOS” which means one who praises or one who is worth praising. Irrespective which is the name of Muhammad (saws) Ahmad and Muhammad (saws) Irrespective whether it is “PARACLETOS” the one who praises or the praiseworthy or it is “PARACLETE” whether advocate or comforter. Allhumdulillah all these meanings befit no one better than the last and final Messenger Muhammad (saws).

Further it’s mentioned in the Gospel of John ch. No. 16 verse no. 12-14 Jesus Christ (pbuh) says

“I have many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now, for he when the spirit of truth shall come he shall guide you unto all truth he shall not speak of himself, all that he hear shall he speak, he shall glorify me, he shall show you things to come”

This prophecy says I have many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now Jesus Christ (pbuh) tells the people I have many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now, for he when the spirit of truth shall come he shall guide you unto all truth he shall not speak of himself...

The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.

JOHN 16:13-15:  "But when he, the Spirit of Truth comes, he will guide you into all truth.  He will not speak on his own, he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.  He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it know to you.  All that belongs to the Father is mine.  That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you."

Also in 1:10 mr Naik misquoted the words of Jesus . Mr Naik said "when the Comforter will come who the Father will send He will glorify Me"
But it says "“When the Comforter comes, whom I WILL SEND TO YOU FROM THE FATHER, namely, the Spirit of truth who comes from the Father, He will testify about Me, " John 15:26

So a big difference! It is Jesus who will send the Paracletos. And according to Islam and Christianity only God sends prophets. So if the Paracletos is a prophet then Jesus must be God! Thank u so much mr Naik for misquoting the words of Jesus to avoid making Him God.

Mr. Naik quotes parts from John 16. But let's read more about John 16:
"I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you.” John 16:12‭-‬15 ‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬
So the Paracletos will guide the disciples in all truth. Did Muhammad guide the disciples in all truth. Certainly not, beside Muhammad came 6 centuries later he also said a lot of wrong things about Jesus. Therefore the Paracletos cannot be Muhammad.
The Paracletos disclosed the disciples what has to come. Did Muhammad disclose the disciples what has to come? Certainly not, Muhammad came 6 centuries later. Therefore the Paracletos cannot be Muhammad.
The Paracletos will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak, will disclose to the disciples. From who? From Jesus! Did Muhammad become his ‘revelation’ from Jesus? Certainly not. Therefore the Paracletos cannot be Muhammad.

Conclusions:
There is no Muhammad in John 14-16.
Mr Naik is cherry picking verses and contradicts what Jesus has said and makes it looks like it fits.

JOHN 16:7, 8:  "But I tell you the truth:  It is for your good that I am going away.  Unless I go away, the Comforter will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.  When he comes he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment...."

Deuteronomy 18:15 "The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your fellow Israelites. You must listen to him."
Deuteronomy 18:18 "I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their fellow Israelites, and I will put my words in his mouth. He will tell them everything I command him."

What condition should this Prophet have that is similar to Moses? Answer
Deuteronomy 34:10 "Since that time, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face— 11no prophet who did all the signs and wonders that the LORD sent Moses to do in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh and to all his officials and all his land.."

1. He should be an Israelite
2. He should Be Known By the LORD face to face
3. He should do many signs and Wonders just as Moses did in the Land of Egypt.

Why Jesus is the prophet described
1. He should be an Israelite- Proof:— He was an Israelite, you can check His geneology in Mathew and Luke Gospel
2. He should Be Known By the LORD face to face. Proof :— "No one has ever seen God but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in the closest relationship with the father, has made him known." John 1:18
3. He should do many signs and Wonders just as Moses did in the Land of Egypt. Proof:— "Jesus Did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.., ." John 21:25

Reasons why Muhammad is not the said prophet
1. He was not an Israelite, — the term Israelites begun from Jacob when God gave him the name Israel. Islam claims that Muhammad has a relationship with Ishmael, but as you can see Ishmael preceeds Jacob, meaning Ishmael was not an Israelite
2. He should Be Known By the LORD face to face:- Muhammad never saw the Lord face to face— Proof:—
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ـ رضى الله عنها ـ قَالَتْ مَنْ حَدَّثَكَ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا صلى الله عليه وسلم رَأَى رَبَّهُ فَقَدْ كَذَبَ وَهْوَ يَقُولُ ‏{‏لاَ تُدْرِكُهُ الأَبْصَارُ‏}‏ وَمَنْ حَدَّثَكَ أَنَّهُ يَعْلَمُ الْغَيْبَ فَقَدْ كَذَبَ، وَهْوَ يَقُولُ لاَ يَعْلَمُ الْغَيْبَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ‏.‏

Aisha said, "If anyone tells you that Muhammad has seen his Lord, he is a liar, for Allah says: 'No vision can grasp Him.' (6.103) And if anyone tells you that Muhammad has seen the Unseen, he is a liar, for Allah says: "None has the knowledge of the Unseen but Allah."
- Sahih al-Bukhari 7380 Book 97, Hadith 10

3. He should do many signs and Wonders just as Moses did in the Land of Egypt. Proof —: according to quran Prophet Isa is Jesus,
he did many signs and wonders:
i. Al-Ma’idah, the fifth chapter of the Quran, declares that Isa has the power to have food sent down from above. He prayed, “O Allah, our Lord, send down to us a table [spread with food] from the heaven . . .” (Qs 5:112-114). The Injil testifies that Isa fed 5, 000 people and 4, 000 people with very little food (Gospels, Matthew 14:13-21; 15:32-39).
ii. The fifth miracle of Isa in the Quran is raising someone from the dead. “. . . I give life to the dead . . .” (Qs 3:49).



The Gospels record how Isa raised several people from the dead (Gospels, Luke 7:11-17; 8:40-56), including Lazarus (Gospels, John 11:1-46). ETC

You decide, But as for Me, the Prophet being described is none other than JESUS CHRIST.

In John ch 15 v 26

Verse 26. “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me".

Jesus (PBUH) again said about holy spirit (روح حق) ruh haq not about any prophet

1. In John 14 vs 26, “ (But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, …)…it says clearly here that “the comforter/advocate/helper IS the Holy Spirit/Holy Ghost”. Please, guys read again.
2. If the Comforter is the holy Spirit, then indeed it can’t be Muhammad as it says in Luke 1:15 that John the Baptist was to be filled with the Holy Spirit before he was born. Muhammad only appeared on the scene 600 years after Jesus’ death.
3. In John 15:26, the same verse that ZN quoted, it says: “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me”.
(i) it says here that Jesus himself will send the comforter. A prophet sending another prophet?
(ii) if Jesus was the one who sent the comforter, which according to ZN, is Muhammad and Muhammad is sent by Allah, according to the Quran, does that not make Jesus = God (Allah)?
4. Lastly, this same ZN who claims that God can’t have a son and says the Bible is corrupt,
(i)uses the same Bible to prove that Muhammad was mentioned in the Bible?
(ii) is okay with Jesus’ reference to the Father in John 14:26?
