I will never forget learning about this in uni, where my professor put "little willy was unsatisfactory. Replaced by Big Willy" on his PowerPoint slides.

Fun Fact: The reason that it’s called a “Tank” is because in its shipping process, the crates and pieces were labeled “TANK”. Because the operation was undercover, the labels were to signify that it it was a water tank, and was used to carry water.
The Little Willie was to be built in water tank workshops, and the name “Tank” had stuck, and over time the name has became synonymous with “Tracked fighting vehicle”

The term "Landship" has recently become probably one of my favorite words in the english language.
a smile on my face everytime and my mind begins to imagine wonderful Landship sailing thru the cosmos.

I live in Lincoln. There’s sculpture in the middle of town proclaiming it to be the home of the tank!

I think that's the first time I've seen the HMLS designation. Fantastic.

It is amazing that the Brits thought to preserve this tank & it's historical significance. Others would have simply cut it up for scrap, or used it as a range target. Cheers!

I've always been surprised that a simple turret arrangement was never employed on a production tank, even just for a machine gun.
