Campfire Cooking: Roast, Pork Chops, and Dutch Oven BREAD!

In this video, Kelly and I try our hand at a 3 course meal over the campfire using cast iron. We start with whole wheat bread in the dutch oven, then start a beef roast on a smaller oven, while grilling pork chops over the open flames. We were really surprised with how it turned out!

I enjoy seeing someone at peace, enjoying nature etc. no issues with cooking etc. I found you because of sawmill, stayed because you seem down to earth, and just sharing what you do.

I think this should be a part of the content because this would be very important if SHF. Thank you for all the experiences you share.

I like watching you cook over a camp fire. In fact I like watching how you do things around your place, I may learn something new. We enjoy your channel.

For sure more of the campfire cooking! Saundra and I were just talking about ditching our old tractor wheel we use as a fire ring and brining in some rocks (which we are EXTREMELY blessed with on our farm) and doing some outdoor cooking ourselves. Very inspiring.

Don’t have a specific recipe but my folks used to do fresh berry cobblers over the fire when we were kids and went camping. My granny called them “sonkers”.

Love it when you guys cook outdoors. It reminds me of my teen years as a Boy Scout. We cooked everything in a Dutch oven. Our favorite thing to cook was peach cobbler. Great jobs to you and Kelly.

I love it! It’s inspiring me to get that Dutch Oven out of the cupboard at our off grid camp and experiment!!

Really enjoy these videos. My favorite Dutch oven delight is... peach cobbler. The slight smokey flavor added to the cobbler kicks it up a notch. The crispy goodness is the best. God Bless.

I would love seeing more outdoor cooking. I have a log smoker that I cook on. I also love cooking over an open fire. Funny story, my wife and I went camping at a camping are near the New River Gorge. Other people camping couldn't believe we cooked every meal over our camp fire. They were all going into town for fast food. Lol I love your channel!

Now I'm hungry. Everything looked delicious. I could almost smell the food and feel the burn of smoke in my eyes.

I cook over a fire pit I build with landscaping blocks with a piece of iron fence for holding my pans, would love to see you do chili with your pork.

The connective tissues really start to break down at about 200 degrees in meat, so if you want super tender cook for a long time at relatively low heat. I do brisket at 225 for like 16 hours or so (till hits 203) and no knife is needed.
