Tennis Serve Pronation Exercise For Top Spin Serves

Показать описание

This drill helps you feel better and imagine better the path of the racquet with top spin tennis serves. Very often tennis players open the racquet face too early and don't hit a quality top spin serve.

And it's quite hard to correct this mistake with conventional drills. This feel based exercise shown above helps you visualize better what happens with the racquet when hitting top spin tennis serves and when is the right time for the pronation to happen.

From all tennis videos I have seen on youtube, this guy is the only one who knows what tennis technique is all about.

I've been researching a great deal about pronation, a skill that seems to be missed by most coaches. Rarely have I found someone who does a great job of instructing how to develop it. Great job!

This coach actually tells intuitively what is happening during contact between the ball and the string bed.  Knowing the minute details quell doubts and misconceptions about the technique.  Now one can swing to the ball, visualize the contact and feel confident doing so.

I am rebuilding my top spin serve based on your videos as mine was hit and miss with no real idea how to execute it properly. Making progress but I don’t hit the ball very hard and I often strain my arm with poor timing. I realise also I don’t fully pronate so will now work on developing that too. I can through a ball along way with my right arm so I should be able to develop a more consistent and powerful topspin serve. Incidentally I play all my other shots left handed as I am mostly left handed. At least my sore serving arm doesn’t affect my other shots! Thanks again for enabling me rebuild my game - enjoyable and satisfying experience. You could offer group lesson courses in Slovenia I know someone else who would be interested also.

I just recently went back to playing tennis after 20+ years -- there was no youtube or any instructional videos way back then. Watching your videos puts a sense (and science) to tennis. I also like the concept of maximizing and leveraging body mechanics to generate effortless power. I do have a trainer (still on my 6th session) but always go back to watching your videos. Good job, great video! Thank you and more power!

Thomas you do rock ! I started out as a 67 year old newbie about 4 weeks ago. After watching your video's over the past month I have advanced to a solid 3.0 tennis player. In addition, to your videos I have taken two tennis lessons.  I have spent most of my time practicing and have delayed playing doubles with players my age and level. However, I have developed a forehand, backhand, volley, and can hit a flat serve, slice and working on the kick serve. I have been lucky to be able to drill with a 29 year old and I 35 year old 4.0 players. Your drills, have been excellent. For example, today I did the serve drill by starting at the service line and working my way back to the base line. Gosh, that is an excellent way to build confidence with your serve.
That's my story for now. I have to go as I will be reviewing some of your video's tonight.

I never really thought about the timing of the pronation - that slowmo of you, really clarified it.

Thanks for the tips. I've been trying to delay pronating to get more snap on my serve. This helps!

So after years of unsuccessful attempts, this is the first explanation that helps me understand the idea behind the top spin serve. I had hit quite a few topspin serves effortlessly during the practice session today, just by applying this technique and adapting the mindset. Thank you so much!

You are correct again is exactly how i taught myself to get a good impact on my golf ball....using that 'knuckle' on the palm of my forefinger to compress the ball in relation to my clubhead's face.  This is the most precise lesson on pronation I've ever heard in my years of teaching tennis (PTR '79) since I discovered it while filming Roscoe Tanner and Colin Dibley at 64 fps on 16mm in the early '70's.

I can surely say you built my serve. At 1st with the video on the shoulder over shoulder technique that opened me the first door in my mind. The 2nd door opened with this one. Great job coach! Thank you
