It is Sunday night and I am going back over several videos I have watched today! I will have to say I just found you recently, but am very impressed with your videos. You are very professional and Thorough, I became a Boy Scout in 1962 and put my first backpack together with knife, flashlight, poncho and so on. In the fall of 1968 I became a marine and went to Vietnam. Home from war I still keep up the Boy Scout mentality. ( Be prepared ) I was Labeled a survivalist? Now the catch phrase is prepper. In 1988 I left my job and bought a farm where I went all out to make it off grid and self sufficient. In April I turn 71, where I practice the Gray man view. When I go to Walmart in my bib overalls driving a 1988 dodge minivan full of trash, I am laughing all the way. I made my Fortune in Real estate around Branson Missouri in the 90’s. I was raised Baptist but for nearly 25 years I have be attending a mennonite church. I say all this to say you are doing a good job, keep up the good work! 👍😊🇺🇸

I would add that if you live in a home with a hot water tank, be sure to have a hose (shorter the better) so that you can drain the water out since it's a source of potable water.

Cheapest and easiest option to start is to just order 5-gallon water jugs from nestle or ozarka or whoever offers it in your area - they're usually about $7 each, come filled, delivered to your door, and are sealed. Add a Dolphin pump to pump it out. I keep about ten on hand and rotate them as we go through them for normal drinking water. Replacement caps are cheap, and there's nylon strap/net kits you can buy to move them around easier, or just use the included handle. I'm in an apartment right now so this is still the best option for me - they're all stacked on one side in a closet.

Just an additional item. 2 liter or 64 oz plastic pop bottles are a good choice. I use clear ones, but they are stored in the dark. They can be washed, they do not add bacteria as milk jugs tend to. The caps are quite solid. They are portable if you have to refill them at a creek or lake. If you fill them with rough filtered bad water you can leave them in the sun for the UV sterilisation. It you leave some head space then in the winter you can freeze them to gi e you some refrigeration (for things you don't want rock hard). And the Sawyer mini filters screw right into the tops to give a good filter if you need them.
You do need a temperate dark place for them.

The “water blocks”, in addition to storing water, can be used to shield against radiation after a radiation event. Water is a good radiation shielding material!

I bought Water Bricks from Water Brick International. 3.5 gallons each...so I can carry! Very sturdy and can be stacked to make shelter if you have enough of them. Can get spigot and extra gaskets. Love them. I live in hurricane zone so very happy to see water bob. Def. Going to check this out.

I think I finally found a good out of the way location to store my large water catchment containers outside. I wanted it out of view from passerby’s. Thanks for the suggestions!!! As always ... right on target.

Five gallon stackable are my favorite. Different configurations can fit multiple storage locations.

I hadn't seen the 20 gallon Wurx option that's nice. My limiting factor on the bigger ones has always been whether I could move them once full. The most I can do on my own is the 7 gallon option which we then also use when we go camping. I like the 2 handles on these so that someone could assist me hauling them from the storage area to the kitchen. One thing I learned that I didn't know, is that the Water Bob was 1 time use only. I was thinking I could send it to my brother in PR for Hurricane season but I thought he'd be able to drain and store after ☹

An excellent overview, thank you! - We always have a constant "backlog" of sealed 5-gallon water jugs for drinking water (distilled, we have vitamins too). As we go through jugs, new ones come in (at the end of a rotating stock) to keep our inventory filled. As this is part of our daily water consumption we know how much it takes us to last X amount of time, and so we can decide on how many we want to keep on hand (in a cool dark basement). You cannot predict "when" something will happen; and so we never got worried when it did in the past, knowing we had at least three months of drinking water on-hand before "things get more complicated" while others rushed in stores to find these. In the end, it is no extra expense at all right? This is just an accumulation of "something" that you do need, and that you will use at some point. Currently evaluating options for something additional for a longer run, but a good start for us, for now.

Thanks Kris for another great video from the UK. Have built up from bottled water, to loads of empty bottles to a waterbob. Was wondering the next preps while in an apartment but moving to a house and garden in May. This video is perfect for building up water storage step by step thanks again for sharing knowledge 👍👍

The honorable mentioned Intermediate bulk container has been in my sights for a long time. I plan to use one for rainwater storage and have now entertained the idea for drinking water storage because of this video.

Thanks for the information. 🍻

I have a couple of the clear 55 gallon drums underneath a rain runoff. Not much worried about bacteria. You can buy small distillers online. Or you can use regular household pans to make a makeshift still for catching condensation as you boil the water.
