InDesign Script Export Named Pages

JavaScript for InDesign exports pages using a unique name drawn from each page's content. Video tutorial is Windows. Script works the same both macOS and Windows.

- Name by paragraph style or character style
- Name by image, stacking order or object style
- Prefix and suffix using variable placeholders
- Export JPG, PDF (interactive or print), or PNG

Thanks to user feedback, as of version 5.8 the script adds variables for images both incremental numbers and incremental letters. Also added variables for incremental letters all pages and master pages.

Great product and service. Before purchasing this script, I would output and name files manually to maintain established file name conventions. Now it's totally automatic. I've searched the web, and this is the only script I've found that is so detailed, with an intuitive interface and just about every file naming option you can imagine. Moreover, I reached out to the developer for technical support, and he responded immediately. Turns out the issue I experienced was not the fault of the script, but a local, isolated problem specific to my computer. Even so, the developer went out of his way to help resolve it. Features added since this video was produced -- added name by image object style; added options to transform periods, and for JPG and PNG output, choice to include bleed; added prefix and suffix, each with variable placeholders, and option to disable name from content to use prefix/suffix only; added variables for master page name and master page incremental numbers. New update today version 5.4. Paragraph and characters styles previously stopped at forced line break. This made matching a person's name, for example, that was split onto two lines, only match the first name, not the last. I've changed to ignore forced line breaks and match until a return (paragraph end) is encountered. This makes first/last names separated by a forced line break now work correctly. The new version now also sees text frames off the page, which it did not before.

This script is great. My only suggestion for the image name is to use an Object Style and the script looks at that as well.

Thanks to user feedback, as of version 5.6, “images” includes all placed graphics, not only raster images, so now includes vector graphics as well.

Do you have a script that can both export named pages & export them to subfolders at the same time? I see two scripts — one for each separately. P.S. I love having file/folder names based off a paragraph style, that's genius!

This looks insanely useful but I can't get the export process to work - it only spits out 2 images instead of the 5 that I've set up with Paragraph styles like the instructions. I've also made sure all the label names have updated Paragraph styles applied to them. All the features and pannel settings seem to look fine but when I click ok to run the script it just exports only 2 images.
I'm using the most up to date version of InDesign (17.1) and I'm on windows 11

Any help would be much appreciated as this thing will save me a ton in my job.

Is there a way to use multiple Character Styles in name? I'm working on single document of a bunch of individual pages that need to be exported as individual sheets, and they need their SAP and Product name in the final PDF, which I already have both as character styles & text variables. Thanks!

Hello! This scripts is great and very easy to use, I just installed for testing in a InDesign document with +300 pages, and it's very slow process to export all the pages.... is that normal? Help :/
