Shohei Ohtani Is INSANE—Is Now The Time To Buy His Cards?

Shohei Ohtani is the first player in MLB history to have a 50-50 season. He has essentially tied up his third MVP as a DH only and seems to be cementing himself in the baseball card hobby. The question though is if he is still a good buy, if his cards can still go up, or if there is danger in how his prices have become. In this video we discuss all of the Shohei Ohtani Baseball Card fomo!

Buy the ring…..and you’ll never buy another card again.

Missed the Shohei boat. I'm all in on Riley Greene and the Detroit Tigers. I sold everything I owned - including my beloved chip fryer and most of my clothes - and plonked it on the tiggers to salute at 70-1. Go you good

You guys are forgetting that Ohtani also has the Asian market. They have big money to play with and don't care about us American card flippers. Prices will go up.

There is a card many people are sleeping on. The 2018 Topps now advent calendar card has a nice image and low print run of only

While Ohtani cards are on fire so many have hit the market that I've actually found some good deals on his low end rookie cards so I'm buying if the price is right!

People aren’t collecting - they are flipping the hottest cards. Right now it’s Ohtani

Great job as usual gentlemen!

To weigh in, I don’t see another current player who has the power/speed dynamic, as does Sho. Acuna isn’t getting faster, and I don’t see 50 hr’s from him. Ohtani looks to be this decades Trout. I hold and am now selling a lot of Ohtani personally. The thing I find so awesome is who Ohtani is…he’s a great guy and a global ambassador. Who else do we have that can carry that flame?

Thx again!!

Outside the Ohtani Bowman Chrome super auto his next nicest card imo is the Blue /150 with the Japanese auto. It got pulled in a break shortly after release. Those are supposedly incredibly rare - signed in Japanese. Looks great.

I finally pulled the trigger and picked up an Ohtani auto. Right before the 50/50 season. I would regret it if I never had one in my collection

I don't think his cards will go down at all. He's the Jordan of baseball.

I have a small Ohtani collection with my "headliner" being a Topps Chrome RC auto purple refractor. I love the card and I love Ohtani, but part of me is thinking "maybe I should sell this now and try to buy later." Then the other part of me is saying "if you sell that card, you will NEVER be able to afford a great Ohtani RC auto again." A real battle of conscious.

It is time to sell. The majority of people that have Ohtani are not collecting.

I'm so lucky I'm only a collector and he's not one of my favorite players because I'd be broke!

I did well with the low end Ohtani rookies. Less risk and a ton of upside. I bought a lot of his base rookies raw in the $5-10 dollar range during the off season, easily selling for $30-50 now. Thats >500% return. I also sent a few for grading, a dozen came back as PSA 10s (keeping for now). I do not own any of his rookie autos though, so I don't know if you can also get 500% return on those? I do feel (by experience) that it is much easier to sell $30-50 cards versus $2-3K cards.

Ohtani is great. But guys, wake up. His prices are definitely going to be lower one day. I have no idea when (could be years). But once you peak physically and your stats start falling, it is a disaster for card prices. People forget about you did in the heart of career and prices fall. Happens to everyone. There will be some other guy belting 50 HRs, wowing people like crazy and Ohtani will be hitting 12 home runs and no one will be dumping money into his cards. Lots of other questions about Ohtani: Do these prices sustain if he isn't the same as a pitcher?

Ohtani is incredible. How will his cards fare in the future, based on his all time stats, given he is already 29?
