If you don't need the support that the Birks offer maybe look into some adventure/hiking sandals. There is nothing on the planate that is as comfortable as a well broken in Birk, to me, and I have tried a number of knock offs. I like my Bedrock sandals for when I am going to be on rough or wet terrain and Brik's for everything else.

Birkenstock does make an Arizona Rugged model with a rubber outsole, but I've never owned a pair.

Whatever you wear, stay comfortable and enjoy!
