Wii U on the Steam Deck is Incredible

CEMU is being ported to native Linux, so no Proton needed. It is almost done, CEMU devs are saying 1-3 months till it is ready.

Super interested in fiddling with this. Both the HD remasters of Zelda should have been released on switch by now but the muppets and Nintendo have just ignored the masses. Yay for replaying wind waker on the go!

Performance looks fantastic! Wii U is definitely the emulator I am most excited to get setup on my SD. WWHD, TPHD, Super Smash Bros and Mario Kart are going to be a blast. I'm interested to see what performance boost we will see with the Linux native version of CEMU given how well it already performs.

Idk why but I didn't think of running a Wii U emulator on Deck... I'm really glad ur able to get these games running so well! Honestly, the Steam Deck might be the only handheld/ gaming device I'll ever want to use. Goodbye Switch, it was fun while it lasted lol

Proton (and Wine, which it's based on, ) is a native linux implementation of a bunch of Windows libraries (DLLs) and DirectX APIs games may rely on, so slowdowns with Proton would happen only when a game tries to use a Windows-native function or during DX->Vulkan translation. It's a very well optimized piece of software!

Can you set up the touch screen and gyro controls to make it act just like a gamepad but at the steam deck's native resolution? I know you can do gyro on PC

They should add an option to force fullscreen when playing whatever games you have, currently there allot of games that wont give propper fullscreen because of the decks aspect ratio.

Deck is everything I thought it would be and more. people say it's over hyped but if you intend on untapping it's full potential. It's an amazing device for a good price. If you're in no hurry for fast load times. Just get the base version and upgrade when drives are cheaper. 1tb and 2tb coming out soon. In the limited games I've seen, it performs as well at 15w as others do at 22w. Outperform others at 15w. These versions are £1000, deck can be had for £350+ SD card. Had mine for a few days, pre ordered a second one. Give to kids for Xmas. Base version.

That keyboard bug you mentioned doesn't feel like a bug to me. You were clicking onto the text field. It would be a bug if it didn't show keyboard.

I've been playing Windwaker on mine for the first time and it's great. Took me ages to get Cemu up and working though.

im glad my Wii U didnt brick when i messed with anything it still works fine 3 or 4 years later after i got one, also got a gaming laptop for my birthday which can run all the systems as well which is a bonus for me

I never got past the System Update part on the Cemu emulator. I have Breath of the Wild, but I can't run it because it keeps asking for a system update. I looked everywhere but I cant find it. What do I do?

Twilight Princess is probably my favorite Zelda game to be honest, you should finish it if you ever have the time!
Also I would really like to see how Mario Strikers run, that's one of the few Wii titles that I remember playing way too much way back when.
