Ok, I'll bite. Why not, right? The reason these alleged alien ships are travelling at near light speed is because when a ship makes a "hyper-space jump", they hafta make the jump several hundred thousand kilometers away from other planets, so as not to affect the planet and/or other spaceships with their "wake". Then they make that last little leg of the journey by physically travelling that last leg.
