“We can condense about 700 acres of farm land into the size of a retail store.” #shorts

Vertical farming saves water, land, and energy — and it could be how we grow food on Mars.

Vertical farming is a type of indoor farming where crops are grown in stacked layers, rather than spread out across large plots of land. These farms offer many benefits over traditional ones, including the prospect of better access to healthy foods in underserved communities.

Because vertical farms use LED lighting, their output isn’t subject to the natural elements that typically affect plant production such as adverse weather, insects, and seasons.

They’re better for the environment because they require less energy and put out less pollution, without a need for heavy machinery, pesticides, or fertilizers. Additionally, soil-less farming methods like aeroponics require just 10% of the amount of water consumed by outdoor farms.

Adopting these sustainable farming practices could lead to a monumental shift in how we produce food on Earth, and enable us to create a reliable food source beyond our planet.

The cartels have been doing this for years.

Pesticide companies gonna try their hardest to make sure this one doesn’t happen 😂

How does this compare in terms of nutritional content to the original type of harvest

Just hire a couple of kids who grew up using redstone in Minecraft and you’ll have it up and running in a month.

What feeds these plants? Is it a chemical concoction? Do these plants get natural sunlight or is it all artificial lighting that consumes excess energy? How are plants experiencing genetic varability when their environment does not put pressure on them to evolve?

I’d love to see the nutrition facts about those veggies vs farm grown

Let's check back in when these companies can actually turn profits not just raise investors money

What about
1) the micronutrients in food,
2) digestion of food by organisms
3) longer term effects

Bottom line is this the future we seek? Unnatural farming?

I heard these things are failing right and left because they are too expensive to run and need more energy than regular field grown crops.

How come I never meet these smart people. Do I live on Donkey Island? Good luck getting a tractor to go up the wall.

This is an environmental, breakthrough and technology. Yes, it’s old technology to a lot of us. Yes, it’s the new technology for most of us. And yes it is technology that is being exposed on this platform. However, this is going to eliminate the use of a lot of fossil fuels being drilled for oil and things like that, I think that the key takeaway here is the reduction of fossil fuels and pollutants as well as being able to yield crops more often versus seasonal indoor, growing with grow lights are expensive because of energy consumption. However, with the right set up such as solar and backup batteries eventually, this will have a very low carbon footprint as soon as more companies do things like this, the air we breathe will be much cleaner. The food will be much more crisp, fresh healthier, juicier, flavorful Beautiful

Companies and governments do anything just to avoid helping out the Actual hard working farmers.

So I thought about this 20 years ago, our population is quickly catching up to the amount of food that can be produced by naturally fertile land, unless everyone wants to be tightly packed in the harshest climates so we can maximize farm land we need to farm vertical in a controlled environment, you could run a 10 story facility and run it on solar power and use far less land and have less waste

where are the other nutrients coming from?

Sunlight is free thats why. Grow lights are expensive

This is what they should be doing in those poor desert countries.

But even if the evaporated water is being recaptured, you still have a lot of water inside the plant itself that is part of the product. Not saying its not more efficient, especially in water stressed regions.

And how much energy do you spend on grow lights because you can’t use the sun for this?

I don't take people at their word. It all sounds great and feasible show me this 10 day growth cycle, show me 700 acres in a building.. not buying it.
