If you have tables at your wedding, chances are, you're going to need tablecloths. In the wedding biz, we call those "linens," even though they are mostly made of a polyester blend. Here are some considerations when it comes to linens:
* Your venue or caterer may provide linens, but your color options will be limited.
* Your caterer may coordinate the rental of linens because they are often also renting plates, flatware, glassware, etc.
* If you're managing it yourself, you have two options: rent or buy.
* I don't recommend buying.
* Figure out how many tables you need to cover and what size they are.
* Standard guest tables are either 60" or 72" rounds or 6' or 8' banquet tables.
* You always want your linens to go down to the floor/ground. Never leave table legs exposed.
* For a 60" round, you need a 120" tablecloth. For a 72" round, you need a 132" tablecloth.
* For a 6' banquet table, you need a 90" x 132" cloth, and for an 8' banquet table you need a 90" by 156" cloth.
* Don't forget about cocktail tables, cake table, sweetheart table. For a 36" round you need a 96" cloth, but if it's a tall hi-top cocktail table, you need a 132" cloth because it's higher off the ground.
* Remember to take into account your favor, guest book, cards/gift, and escort card tables.
* Ask you caterers, bar service, and DJ whether they will need tables and linens, and find out what size.
