The main thing about Eternal sleep, is you can use Thioller's needle AOW to cause massive damage once a target is on eternal sleep, work on bosses too for a short time

To explain why there are two graces so close, you can get to the fissure early by just exploring. But it will be blocked by a wall of light and interacting with it will tell you it is sealed. Have to get the message of a great rune breaking from entering the shadow keep for it to unseal. Then you can proceed like normal.
