Be patient, Dave. Eventually one will show up in your magic dumpster.

All new cars are too darn expensive it's kind of ridiculous.

As a used Leaf owner who did a ton of research before I bought one, I would be terrified to own one in Australia. They have no active cooling for the battery and do not handle the heat all that well.

The reason for the huge price difference in Norway, isn't because of subsidies.
Its because they have huge tax on ICE cars and no tax on electric cars.
So an Aussie leaf will have a similar price to a Norwegian leaf
But an Aussie corolla will be ridiculously cheaper than a Norwegian one
In my opinion this is the best approach, but many people will disagree

Dave... get a Sinclair C5 -- affordable and fun! (pffft!)

"sales have doubled" sounds better than "we sold 1200 instead of 600"
1200 is less than 0.4% total sales

You won't need an expensive battery when your car simply has a couple underside contacts to the SOLAR ROADWAY below it!

If you do a lot of miles, and can charge at home, a BEV is a no-brainer. If you can't buy, there are leasing options. The payback point varies a lot in different countries, depending on subsidies, fuel taxation, congestion charge discounts etc.

The MG is the one to watch at the moment, if they can deliver as promised it will really shake the market up.

Don't forget most, if not all, of Norway's electricity comes from hydroelectric power stations.

Oh boy this is gonna be good.
I own a Tesla Model 3. I wouldn't say it's a good investment but its the best purchase I've ever made. It's brought me so much joy. Getting updates with new features all the time makes it feel new. I got 25, 000 miles on it already and taken it on several 1, 000+ mile trips with ease.

It cost around $0.03 US per mile for me.

I'm with Dave, general autonomous vehicles are decades off. They're workable for controlled roads in good condition, but they are no where near ready to cope with the general road infrastructure of poor surfaces, degraded line markings, bad lighting, glare from the sun blinding sensors, random pedestrians and other drivers not respecting the autonomous vehicle's safety zone. That's leaving aside the ethical and insurance aspects of how the vehicle should respond in an unavoidable accident situation and who is liable?

Here in Switzerland EV's also aren't subsidized and a model 3 costs about 65k swiss franks. It still hasn't stopped it being the most sold car in Switzerland in 2019 :)

I think its quite worth buying a used Nissan Leaf or something like that. But even buying a new one, the clean air is always worth it, not killing the environment and polluting everything has no price in my opinion.

Dave, I am lower middle class and own a Bolt EV. It costs me 5$ to drive 250 miles. I did it because it is cheaper in the Long run and I consider it an investment. More importantly, I want to be the change I want to see in the world. It's just convenient that the driving experience completely blows away that of an internal combustion engine driven car. I will never buy another ICE again. Lawnmower, motorcycle, whatever.

Just checked that in Finland Tesla 3 is over 60 000€ if you want all wheel drive (in winter you want it). The media was calling that thing like "every man's electric car" :D

How do you tolerate using your web browser without an adblocker? I don't understand.
That used car site looks entirely inoperable without one.

Hi Dave, we love our Tesla Model 3 and have been driving it for the last 3 months ; I've never been a car fanatic until this vehicle; we pay $16/month in electricity to run our vehicle; I'll gladly show you the vehicle if you have the time (Sydney based, I've visted M Sheil Sim several times)

We get company cars at work and everyone is getting hybrids now as a tax dodge, they only do about 1/2 of what they say on battery power (when new) then guzzle the fuel as you are carting a boot of batteries and an extra motor.
