When some major airline make its cabin crews go through the Cabin crew undergoing unruly passenger management training session, the crew members crowd around the crew which play the roles of cabin crew and unruly passenger and watch attentevely the performance which go on in front of them. Then they change each other. When people move too close to the performance, they are asked to stand back)

These are very commonly used phrasal verbs. Jennifer. I hope you don't mind if I add some more information on your lesson for your students.

One can write phrasal verbs in the past, present and progressive tenses:

Past tense: I stood back as the paramedics did their work.
Present tense: I must stand back and let the paramedics do their work.
Progressive tense: I am standing back as the paramedics do their work.

The phrasal verb 'stand back' also falls under the category as an imperative verb ( a command), where the subject of the sentence is you.

Stand back!

Imperatives are commonly seen on sign posts to warn people of danger:

Live Electricity - Stand back.
Look left.
Stay in lane,
Watch out for fast moving traffic.
Keep out.

Thanks so much, Jennifer for this video:
Here are the examples:
* People might crowd around the pride and the groom to take photos or to dance together.
* The police put tape around the place of the event or they can stand like human shields to get people to stand away and not crowd around.

Hi Jennifer. Two interesting pharasal verbs! Thanks a bunch for this video. 😀

• I think people might crowd around someone like an author to get their sign, or crowd around an actor or actress to get the chance of getting a selfie with them, or even crowd around a singer or a football player to get a selfie with them.

• Police should be organized. Every single volunteer and security guards should know exactly what they’re supposed to be doing and where they’re supposed to be at any given time, so when a trouble arises they can handle it. They get people to stand back by telling them to stand back and not crowd around. They might also stand in formation in order to prevent people from gathering around the scene.

Hello teacher! People tend to crowd around their idols. I wish I could see my favourite singer performing live sometime. I'd say how much I look up to her and of course I'd try to get her autograph, but surely the bodyguards ask me to stand back.
Thanks for the lesson.
Have a good one!

People tend to crowd around when they see a celebrity around.

They stand in order to avoid people getting closer, in other words, they are walls so people know they can't go through.

1. There are lots of examples of why people crowd around. I chip in another case I saw last week in the shopping mall. People crowded around in front of a coffee shop which the football game of our national team playing with other country team. All the seats were occupied but the rest just did not miss anything so they decided to stand there and watch the game.
2. I think the police officers are well trained to manageat a large public event. They work in group with tools and signboard that remind/ warn people to stand back and not to crowd around.

People would crowd around someone or something that call for their attention, like a musician playing his guitar on the street or at a subway, or in case something is happening or just happended as a car accident!!!
It’s definitely not easy for the police officers or someone else to handle crowd control at a large public event, what I think they could install containment barriers, but in order to stand the people back and not crowed around they could make orders out loud or if it doesn’t work they could throw gas bombs or even shoot to the crowd or to the top with rubber bullets!!

Hi Jennifer.
How are you?
I wish we(learners) could crowd around our beloved teacher Jennifer and congratulate her for this wonderful phrasal verbs'
series.
People just stood back from the site of the fire and watched it from a fair distance while fire brigade members were busy in dousing the flames.
The police might ask people to stay back and let them do their job. However, on some occasions they have to use force to prevent people from crowding around.
Please check my grammatical mistakes.
God bless you.
Thanks.
