this is such a cool explanation of dialectics via level sets. it immediately provides us with a vivid geometrical depiction of Sartre's notion of dialectical synthesis as a "movement of totalization, " with the circle moving along one orthogonal direction to produce the total cylinder.

This is not dialectics. Dialectical systems have an inherent contradiction in them. These contradictions are real and actually exist in the system. And these contradictions can't exist individually. The forces of negation between the contradictions transforms them into an ever changing dynamic system. A circle is in no sense contradiction of a rectangle and there is no force of contradiction in them.

Dialectical thinking in Hegelian terms is not something like that. It is not trying to find equilibrium between two different entitites. Instead it is the assertion that the reality itself is irreducable to its natural (equilibrium) content. There is something already negated when reality is seen in its simple form. We end up getting an affirmation of NON-RELATION on being (reality) in itself. It always depends on coordinates of structuring and thinking.

U beautiful analogy with the cylinder. It really illustrates how there can be 2 completely valid viewpoints which are BOTH RIGHT and can be confirmed so YET they left by themselves will NEVER REVEAL THE WHOLE TRUTH.

I think this process is taken for granted now a days in philosophy but it just shows how this is one of Hegels' most helpfuland practical ideas.

I looked up "dialectic definition". The first two suggestions left Me confused as ever. This video was brilliant to say the least. Dialectic is difficult to define but the example provided did so perfectly.

Is The Immanent Metaphysics captured at all in the following notion "Law of the Re-Included Middle." I know "the Middle" was Excluded, but I can't remember why(and I don't think I ever would have voted for "the Law of the Excluded Heart".) Who knows what wonders we can do, if We(royal) get our hearts in their proper cages, and get our heads screwed on straight.(and let our eyes be adjusted.)
Who knows what an engine of "Progess" coupled with brakes, a wheel-for-steering, and a competent conductor; Lord only knows, when or where it might stop at a rose garden). Perhaps we can arrive somewhere for a change-of-pace, instead of always scrambling to get we-know-not-where and break-neck speed. Even if I didn't capture a thing about the Metaphysically Immanent, then it is just a interesting and beautiful image that smacked me in the face. I decided to try to communicate the inchoate idea as a prayer to Gods of 3rd Eye Optometry. The Great Optometrist in the Sky, the granter of both sight and vision. And shusss about the widely-known "top-secret occult ability" to do both at once. (It would feel a bit cruel to withhold the ability to close all-of-them if one needs rest.) Correct our Vision and open our 3rd Ear(at least make us go to an Audiology appointment for a check-up let our hearts hear the vision, let the song playing on the Great Optometrer's i Pod heal our mind-blindness and double-vision(the apple is just information that Nature taught us, without her man is dumb). If Heaven and Nature never dance or sing, I would divorce my parents and at least find parents that are better story-telles if they can't play an instrument and walk at the same time, but they know of captivating tales twice as compelling as war stories(rinse, lather, repeat ad nauseum). I hate and do not support and do not condone "Dance-Fighting", but I might Dance-Fight my way out of a perpetual-war-story. Force the "Curse" to remove the disguiSe and reveal itself as "the Cure"(and we can band together like Robert Smith and make some sad-beautiful post-punk songs our themes). Beauty and Tragedy is neither created nor destroyed. The "Law of Conservation of Beauty and Tragedy"( Law of Innocent Fools or The Law of Happy-Accidental Mis-Adventures) May all your mis-adventures be born of mystery and bravery's stet into the Unknown and slay that dragon with friendship.

The hugely missed point is that when perspectives are orthogonal the reality isn’t a “compromise” in the middle, the reality exists in the blind spots of both parties. There is a huge parallel in political science
