You now need to hear “hooked on an 8 second ride”. Chris is an icon we lost way too soon. Garth Brooks one said he got his stage energy from Chris, this man did things like ridding mechanical bulls on stage. One of my few hero’s.

Chris was a world champion bareback bronc rider. My ranching partner rode against him several times. He said you're better off to keep your entry money in your pocket if Chris was entered because you were gonna lose. Chris was from Wyoming.

Mr. Chris LeDoux. Championship bronc rider turned singer. He had a pretty good rodeo circuit following for music until Garth Brooks mentioned him in his first song, and it made Chris a superstar. Love his music, I had the pleasure of seeing him twice in concert before he passed away. God Bless Chris LeDoux!!

Chris is a western music legend. A rodeo champion, an award winning sculpted, a rancher, and a family man. He started his music career by recording songs in a basement studio in Wyoming. He sold his albums out of the trunk of his car while he was rodeoing.

I got to see Chris Ledoux in concert before he passed - and yes, he did have a mechanical bull on the stage. Whether riding a saddle bronc or giving a concert, he put it all on the line.

Chris Ledoux is one of the few singer/songwriters who lived the life he wrote about and could back up words. Lost too soon. We love him, his an icon. Those are Wrangler Jeans, btw.

I've been waiting for you to get around to the late, great Chris Ledoux (Pronounced Luh- Doo).. He was a REAL cowboy, and 1976 World Champion in bareback riding... I had a friend who went to one of his live shows, he told me Chris REALLY put on a show, right down to riding a mechanical bull on stage.... This was while he was still recovering from his (Ultimately fatal) liver cancer treatment...

He has a variety of songs.. He can do love songs, such as "Tougher Then The Rest" or "Western Skies" and then just tear it up with sings like "Hooked on an 8 Second Ride" or "Bareback Jack" and everything in between... Many of his songs, most of which he wrote or co wrote himself, are about Rodeos, while others are about other things...

He got famous when Garth Brooks name dropped Chris in his first single, "Much Too Young To Be This Damn Old"... Garth and Chris became good friends and worked together too... They made the duets "What'cha Gonna Do With a Cowboy" and "Some Things Never Change"... Garth even put out a tribute to Chris called "Good Ride, Cowboy" after he passed... Chris worked with other artists too, such as Toby Keith, with the song "Copenhagen"...

One of my favorite Chris Ledoux songs is "Silence On The Line"... It is also tells a story...

BTW, His World Championship winning ride can be found on YT... All You gotta do is search it...

Chris was an unbelievable story teller who could tell it slow or fast, and when he went fast he brought the energy. You should check out Western Skies, Riding for a Fall, Paint Me Back to Wyoming and Look at You Girl (which was played at my daughters wedding). Life is a Highway, The Fever for a little faster and the list goes on and on.

Chris LeDuox was a hell of a man. His storytelling is beyond singing. He helped thousands through music, art, and being a truly decent dude. He was a fiercely independent independent artist. Having more than 30 albums he released, much in the same vein as Tom MacDoonald. (Chris won a grammy
He rodeod - not just making the circuit He won the bareback championship at NFR in Vegas.
He never disappointed a fan. HUGE, fun, spill into a street dance concerts that were epic.
Veryi mpressive life. However it was his personal life where he was irreplaceable. He was a good dad and husband. I f you just head further into his play lists you'll hear his and zoeggy's love story.
He died at 56, far too young but he's caught cancer and survived an organ transplant. He was a really good man. He made this world better place.

Chris was 100% Wyoming proud. This past weekend was Chis LeDoux (La Do) days in Kaycee, Wy where he lived for many years before passing away. Nearly his entire family still lives here and I'm honored to call them friends. I spoke with Peggy his wife a few days ago. Been in his office many times and it's a museum to his accomplishments. All the rodeo buckles, his saddle, guitars, and the gold records on the wall. Unfortunately he passed before I moved to this area, but the stories you hear from the locals let you know he was much more than a champion rodeo rider or a musician.

You could fall off in a huge rabbit hole with Chris. One of a kind-real cowboy, real musician. He started his music career selling 8 track tapes of his music to his buddies at rodeos out of the trunk of his car. Most people never heard of him until Garth Brooks came along & mentioned Chris’ name in a song. I have every song Chris ever recorded, on cassette & CD, some on 8 track (yes, I’m that old) Chris is one of my heroes, & I don’t throw that word around lightly.

He died in March of 2005 from cancer. He was a world champion professional bareback rodeo rider in 1976. When speaking about that accomplishment LeDoux chuckled recalling his bounty. “I won a saddle and a buckle, and I got a hat and a pair of boots – and a little bit of money. The money’s gone. The boots are worn out. The hat’s gone – someone bit a big chunk out of it at Fort Worth that next winter. I still have the saddle and the buckle. But that championship gave me credibility in the music that I’m doing and helped tremendously, ”

"Riding For A Fall" is a must.

Chris Ledeux was the real thing. He’d ride the rodeo then put on a concert later. His family pressed the records at home and sold them at those concerts and rodeos. A couple of my favorites by him are “Tougher Than the Rest” and “Silence on the Line, ” the later being another story song like this one.

I remember growing up listening to Chris Ledoux with my mom. Everytime he pops up in my playlist, I reminisce about the times we had together. Great artist and great memories. And also. Upchurch mentions him in Real Country, "unless you been whiskey bent blaring Chris Ledoux."

Chris Ledoux was quite a singer and story teller. May he rest with Jesus.

It does my heart good seeing you young kids appreciate a true GOAT.
RIP Brother. You are truly missed!

We are so blessed that his Son "Ned LeDoux" (who sounds nearly identical) is releasing much of his Dad's stuff on Youtube.
