I live in Southern Indiana, a huge Amish community. One day I was headed around the bank. I heard heavy metal music. When I got behind the bank to the ATM, there stood a young Amish man on his cell phone standing behind his buggy at the ATM machine. I thought the music can't be coming from him. But I was wrong, there in the back door of his buggy was an old style boombox. I laughed so hard I actually cried.

My cousin is ex Amish and had a young Amish helper and worked construction..one day one the way home they found a game boy on the side of the road..the Amish boy kept it and played it all the time until he got caught by his mom.. needless to say she let them both have it! Him for having it and my cousin for been a part of it!😂

We went on a family vacation last year to a lovely log cabin in Iowa. The tiny town must have been near an Amish community, we saw a lot of youngsters hitting the ice cream parlor. We were getting a fishing license and a young Amish boy was getting a hunting license. My dad and I wished him "happy hunting" he wished us "bountiful fishing". We all left the shop, His brother had a phone and kid goes "I thought you got rid of that!!!" He had spooked his poor brother so bad he almost dropped the phone. His brother told him if he had broken his phone he'd be the one who would get him a new one and to keep quiet.

Very true especially here in western new York were i live. I would say almost every other Amish has a cell phone or connections to use one. The Amish here are old order but it's very nice to see most of them have reflection triangle or some sort of reflection strip on back of buggy. I pass amish literally every day during my travels. I have had more then one close encounters with almost running into the back of a buggy at night time. It makes me very upset when that happens. Almost to the point were i want to yell at them for not having anything reflective on buggy.

I live in Lancaster Pa and half the young Amish folks have phones. You would be surprised at the things they hide from the Elders.
They may look innocent, but believe me, they’re just as sneaky as the rest of us. Lol

I live in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania now but I am from Wilkes-Barre Scranton area which I also grew up in the Lancaster Lebanon Pennsylvania area as well when I was younger. I've lived in Lititz PA almost all of the Mennonite and Amish people we knew we're way more modern than they let on. Especially when it came to technology LOL most of the new more than I did at the time. Because I was born in 74 and mostly grow up to the 80s and 90s. I'm so glad I did I am part of Generation X we are the greatest Generation to ever live! The last of the feral children. Millennials on up are a whole different breed and I feel so sorry for the direction that our country is now headed in! I thank God I don't have many years left to live

The Amish that live in my area all have phones and they don't seem to hide them. In fact, one Amish man has a seasonal business as a butcher/processor and his number is in my phone 😂😂😂.

Technology will certainly continue to slowly make its way into the Amish world. Having a phone/computer really should be an individual’s choice, not a group decision forced on everyone
