Never stay loyal to a company. Even if they've been loyal to you, they can still let go of you any day. For any reason.

Take care of yourself.

My situation is an accident. I took a job, got a 12k pay then a late bloomer popped up a month later and reached out to me with an additional 10k pay bump on top of that for the same job. job hopped only after a month. It would have been insane not to. My family comes first. Above any job loyalty 100%

I'll be loyal to an employer only if the employer is loyal to me. The end.

Plenty of good takeaways on this podcast! The one that stood out the most for me was being overly concerned with image curation. I believe too many people overemphasize the one-directional approach from employer to prospective employee. Like you mention, it works both ways. It's best to see the work relationship as contract based and mutually beneficial until it's not and then looking at what options are at hand.

Companies run employees to the ground and people are often underpaid for the work they do. The employee knows they're underpaid, so they work hard to get the experience and then sell that experience to a higher bidder (employer). Employees also hope that they climb the ladder with each hop in hopes that they'll go into management and work less, but this of course rarely comes to be. In a sense, people job hop often to escape expoitation and this whole narrative (corporate propaganda) that job hopping being negative is to get people to stay in one place to work for less money than they deserve.

As a contractor, job hopping is a way of life. Doing good work and having a good reputation is what really matters. The money follows.

My current issue is having to essentially make a lateral move in order to achieve a higher-paying project management position in the future. I'll have to make a lateral move for only about a 10% salary increase, unfortunately. It's certainly a gamble, but should pay off in the long-term.

Always job hop, always. Study after study shows that even when done involuntarily, even with job gaps, your salary still increases much more over time than a corporate lifer.

Nobody job hops because they are bored. People leave companies when the supervisors and management have toxic behaviors period.

I've had over 20 jobs in my life and I am 41. Many companies are still competing for my services. I am employed and have 2 interviews this week. I expect to take one, leaving my current role after 2.5 years. I've already accomplished as much as someone with a 25 year career. I move on to keep learning and keep fixing. WAY too boring to stay around after fixing everything.

Could you suggest other methods to increase salary faster 3x or 5x other than job switching and depending upon number of work experience in years ? Does any book talks about it..

Job hoping isn't for everyone, it can hurt you, some people it doesn't matter

You don't have a choice if you're going to job hop or not when you're always getting fired.

No. We’re treated as cheap slave labor and its as if HR whamen have a morbid joy of denying people who have job hopped access to wages to live. I did the job hopping game to offset child support. All it has done in this current economy is make me look unstable.

I had the opportunity to explain it in a job interview that I landed, but we rarely get the chance to even undergo the humiliation ritual.

If you live in an area with a large population, go for it. Results fair poorly in rural good ol’ boy towns.

Irina initially thank you for your wonderful advise! Having employed for 15 years at a company, I have changed job the last 3 months for an increase pay of 33% and a managerial role for 1st time. However there are micromanaging behaviours by the top management and I consider leaving for a new challenge, targeting same C-suit role in my profession but to another most promising and high paying sector. Is this a wise decision or there are any downsides to make this move? By the way, I start attending specialized certifications, aiming to jump in this new sector ( Compliance officer at a Fintech firm)

I am currently considering an offer right now for me it is to upgrade my skills to be a individual contributor worth the money and the flight risks. That’s how I view myself my worry is many having children I am 28 years old and my current company has a good maternity pay (I’m in Europe) even higher than classic but I am not satisfied of the role and get frustrated of the lack of professional productivity and progress basically doing a good job has become impossible due to company politics. My senior are literally fighting tooth and nails to keep my team in their business area and not make us progress and help the entire business who is desperately in need and it drives me nuts !!!
