Start Here Star Citizen 3.17 - New Player Guide & Tutorial
LATEST STAR CITIZEN PATCH ALPHA 3.17 LIVE

Star Citizen is an Open Development Alpha Project by Cloud Imperium. It is 2 Games really though, the Persistent Universe that aims to build a First Person MMO Space Sim that encompasses gameplay in ship & on ground, economy and pretty much anything else you can think of. It's built in the StarEngine (a modified Lumberyard Engine). You'll see massive Space Ships that you can fly with friends, land on planets, explore or whatever your way to whatever goal you choose. It's available to try in it's current Alpha State now, you can give feedback & influence the direction of the game BUT it is VERY ALPHA.
Squadron 42 is the Single Player Campaign of Star Citizen & the Spiritual Successor of Wing Commander. The Idea is the game is immersive, cinematic, beautiful & seamless... NO LOADING SCREENS once in game.
Both Games are currently in the Alpha of their development.
I am suspecting to see something more mainstream for Star Citizen's PU by the end of 2022 with permanent progression, though it will be a while after that before the game is considered "feature complete" which would be closer to 2025 in my opinion.
Squadron 42 will not be released before 2022.

I am an Independent Content Creator & Star Citizen Fan. I am not paid by Cloud Imperium HOWEVER I am an Evocati Member and as such I am under an NDA for Closed Early Patch Tests of Star Citizen', known as the Evocati Test Flight (ETF). They occasionally offer me ships for giveaways too, which I will take if they are truely NO STRINGS ATTACHED.
GameGlass, Shadow & NordVPN referrals give me a small kickback, however I am not paid by them for any specific videos or promotion. Unless Otherwise Stated.

It'll be neat to see how quickly we can build back up to where we were considering how many millions I've lost in the past due to 30K's interrupting my cargo runs!

One of the most underrated things to come out of 3.15 is that credits, items, and ships can all be wiped separately by CIG so if they need to wipe something they don’t have to wipe everything together.

Great beginner recap. I shared this with a few of my friends to hopefully help them get motivated to join the verse. You do a great job presenting material and advising getting around the game.

As someone who took a 6 month break, this was extremely helpful relearning the basics!

Thank you for this
This game has always seemed so intimidating
With it all broken down like that, it's time to give it a fair chance

Thankfully, I own two ships from the pledge store (out of my 4) that will allow me to get caught back up to where I was fairly quickly.. provided RNGesus is with me, the good ol' MOLE and the Conny Taurus. Shouldnt take me TOO long to rebuild my fleet.. am gonna miss that Star Lifter for cargo hauling in the beginning though..

I watch these after I take a long break because it always feels intimidating to jump back in. Always small things I miss or have to re-learn. Thanks for the updates!

Not even an hour after I get the email for 3.15 going live and you already have a "start here" video. Awesome job man, thank you

Thank you for the concise summary. It gets hard for fringe/new players to jump back in when the systems, buttons, and gameplay changes so I greatly appreciate this video catching me up with 3.15!

The only ships I own are a C2 and a origin 325. One thats great starter bounty hunter and one thats a great cargo hauler, hopefully it will be easy to get back in the groove
BTW still no 3.15 drop for me yet

With 3.15 just going live, this was a nice refresher on mechanics that I've forgotten or missed.

@1:15 When I started a few weeks ago i set my home as Orison. This time around (after the 3.15 wipe) I chose Lorville mostly because I'm new and haven't explored it yet. Anyway, I was stuck somewhere and had to backspace. When I did I was sent back to Orison...so I got that going for me, which is nice...

Welp there goes my night, got into this game about a month ago but was too afraid to grind it since the wipe was soon. Glad I can finally go all out with this game!

I haven't played consistently since 2016. I really enjoyed playing 3.15 tonight.

Even though lost my armor pants and med gun. And my Titan blew up for no apparent reason just entering atmo on Yela.

Good to see you making a tutorial for those not up to date on the current game.

My friend has been talking about this game for about a decade, glad to finally see how it looks like. It looks fun!

These are helpful for new players and returning alike, so many things to figure out without a tutorial.

thanks for making an updated basics video like this. I was only just getting in to star citizen when my son was born and had to take a break, just getting back in to it now and feeling ready to experience the verse. there are always new people just getting started, and with the game constantly changing it can be hard to keep up.

the whole thing where when you die you lose any customized modules on your ship drives me nutz. having migrated to star citizen from elite dangerous where modules are a huge part of the game, and are always ensured along with the ship, it just makes it feel like its not worth the bother to modify a ship in star citizen, and that's a real shame.

If your PC is a bit older / less optimized, I recommend an Area 18 start. For me it has much more stable frames than NB. It still has a lot of the stores you'll want to shop at, and you can hold backspace to get up to the port instead of trying to fly off the planet with tons of lag.
