To master Federer forehand stroke (12) - shoulder horizontal abduction

preview_player
Показать описание
Understanding of shoulder horizontal abduction is important to achieve Federer and Djokovic forehand strokes. Shoulder horizontal abduction is the position where elbow is behind or on the shoulder-to-shoulder line.
Keeping shoulder horizontal abduction as long as possible is the key to success to use our body torso properly.

This is some of the best analysis out there. As far as your execution, in my analysis, your shoulder to hip separation doesn't match the pros, which I'm sure you might already know. Sure the S to S is one block, but the S to hips are not.

What a great effort and amazing analysis.
I have been playing tennis only for 2 months (and I am 28 years old which is the same age you started playing tennis!) but now I can get the idea of how important using my body to hit the ball is. Wish I could do 10% of players in this vid haha. It is quite interesting that you should suppress throwing racket in conscious. While my couch always recommends me to throw the racket (라켓을 채다). Wish you could archive some development with your study(?) and I could get more idea of yours in few years. :)
Thank you very much and hope I can see your playing one day haha

This is not bad but I fail to see the big difference between Djokovic and Thiem elbow apart from Djokovic having it further from the body. But Thiem's looks pretty in line with his body for a long time during his stroke

Hi, thanks for your channel and your work you put in here. As yourself, I'm trying meticulously to rebuild the forehands of the big players to better understand how to improve my own game. In order to do horizontal shoulder abduction for as long as possible with a straight arm forehand as Federer you have to bend your upper body over to the right a bit (to bring body in a banana shape as I call it) and also bend your head a bit to the right as well as you can see it with Federer. With this technique there is less blockage of the joints when doing straight arm forehand (vs. bend arm forehand of e.g. Kyrgios). You are standing very straight in the end of your video and thus your joint blocks the straight arm. Also if you have a "toilet seat position" as I call it (bending your knees like if you are sitting on a toilet) it will help with stability. You will see a lot of pro players doing that. Keep up your great videos. I learned a lot from them! A scientific approach to Tennis is so much lacking and your work is helping to advance Tennis a lot! Best regards from Germany!
