Tiago Forte, Founder of Forte Labs and author of "Building A Second Brain," discusses the problem of information overload and how it can hinder creativity.

He proposes a solution in the form of a Commonplace book, a central repository for all meaningful information and content. Forte's method for managing this information, called C.O.D.E. (capture, organize, distill, and express), allows individuals to access and use this information in order to facilitate creative thinking.

By regularly reviewing the information in their Commonplace book and using it to inspire new ideas, people can more effectively navigate the modern world’s information overload — allowing us to free up cognitive resources for creativity.

The average person with a phone just spends all day on social media distracted. The divide is between those who can used technology in a focused manner vs those who are distracted by manipulative algorithms.

95% People wastes time on entertainment using technology, instead of on personal development. This can be understood in two ways, because many people are "tired" of this pace and progress. I know IT specialists freshly in their 30s who have already experienced a nervous breakdown and professional burnout.

I think another part of the divide is that not everyone can be on computers all the time. If everyone was on the computer doing "personal development" etc. there wouldn't be anyone to actually do physical things in the world and make things happen. The people on the computers require that other people not be in order to support their activity.

A very wealthy woman living in NY...emigrated from Europe and had inherited lots & lots of money from her father who had deposited it in Swiss Banks, prior to being incarcerated in the 2d 🌎 war....she tried incessantly to get the money, to no avail...& Eventually passed away, but let it be known that computers were used to distract her sanity....

Remember his point is actually saying the same thing since there have been people who are rich vs poor. Technology may be the topic at hand, but the driving force is that people should be advocating the ease of cheaper access of any resource (especially in regards in how to access knowledge, information, and network of

People with money and power will always try to keep that for themselves. which is bluntly speaking, evil

You are looking at it wrong. Most humans have cellphones and most tech is starting to become “Mobile First”. We’re a few steps away from making all humans more equal in terms of access to tools and capital. Not everyone will use it effectively though. But overall the impact of tech has been that of liberation.

Certainly part of the problem but not the entire reason for the divide. Plenty of other reasons create the distance between starting advantage that have nothing to do with computers. To learn more investigate the gilded age.

“That aren’t being utilized by everyone else” is a better way to phrase the situation in already developed communities. The way he phrased it was as if he was comparing 1st and 3rd world communities, which is a valid point as well but a less important point when shared to an audience using the digital platform he’s stating the other group does not have access to. Lol… Great share

Information toward what end. Most people are hopelessly lost within that information environment. Young children can tell apart 20 Designer Brands but don’t know 3 local birds or plants.

This is true.
I do not know a person which uses more Internet resources than me.

Everything has a trade off. Thought experiment: Which group is happier, the hyperproductive rich polyglot or the random villiager with a community?

Some of us have jobs that we do all day on the computer and just desperately want to go outside and feel the sunshine and dance and talk to and touch 3 dimensional humans and look at the birds and lizards and mammals right around us and NOT stare at a glowing rectangle for the remaining hours of the day.
