Απόσπασμα από την ταινία Star Τteck VI "The undiscovered country" όπου ο Spock (Leonard Nimoy) λέει:
“An ancestor of mine maintained that if you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth”,
(μτφ. "Ενας πρόγονός μου ισχυριζόταν πως, αν αποκλείσουμε το αδύνατο, τότε αυτό που μένει, μολονότι απίθανο, πρέπει είναι η αλήθεια").

Στην πραγματικότητα η φράση προέρχεται/ανήκει στον Sherlock Holmes, ήρωα της ομώνυμης σειράς βιβλίων του Sir Arthur (Ignatius) Conan Doyle ο οποίος στο βιβλίο "The Sign of the Four" (ελλ. τίτλος "Το Σήμα των Τεσσάρων") (έκδοση 1890) λέει:
“How often have I said to you that when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth?”.
(μτφ. "Πόσες φορές σου έχω πει πως, αν αποκλείσουμε το αδύνατο, τότε αυτό που μένει, μολονότι απίθανο, πρέπει είναι η αλήθεια").
