The gulf stream warming Europe (and some other factors) is the reason climate is still pretty similar. Without it Europe would be several degrees colder the whole year.
You can look that up its a pretty interesting topic.

Hey Nalf,

I just wanted to thank you. I've been watching your videos for 2 or 3 years now and yet you are still entertaining me. Thanks!

If your theory on latitude and longitude was correct... Australia would be a messed up place thats hot all the time and has many many weird people and even more weird animals that want to kill you.... Luckily thats not correc.... oh wait... lol..

I went to Thailand a few years back and every day is the same length. After a short while I was able to tell from the shadows cast exactly what time of day it was. When I came back to my northern latitudes where I grew up and lived all my life I found it so weird that the sunset changes every day. I was only in Thailand for 3 months but it re-calibrated my internal clock. I'm thinking of making this story into a Hollywood blockbuster starring Tom Cruise as a weatherman who becomes a Buddhist monk for a bet.

You‘ll be thankful for it getting dark early during the Christmas season. Much better vibes...

That's so cool! I had the reverse experience when visiting the States for the first time ever in January 2015. I went to New York and it surprised me how relatively long it stayed light for the time of the year.
I also once read an American book, don't remember the title, but they discussed late night sunsets in summer at 9 pm. I remembered being surprised they thought that was 'late'.
I'm from The Netherlands btw, in Delft. 52rd parallel goes through our university campus and they've depicted that line with blue stones across campus. The same parallel crosses though Alaska too.

Yep, that's why we call winter and autumn the dark season and we are happy when days become longer in spring. Nice video btw. I really liked the music in it.

Now imagine living in Scandinavia. It is depressing and at its worst, the sun goes down around 3.30pm where i live. That's why I actually own a lamp that mimics sunlight. You'd think there wouldn't be such a huge difference between Northern Germany and Denmark, but there is.

Shot was worth it. New lens was worth it. Plus: Cody is an amazing cinematographer. True artist.

Sunset is 16:49 in Portland and 16.54 in Stuttgart. I think you got confused by daylight saving time which ends 1 week earlier in Germany. It is true, days are currently longer in Portland due to latitude but the difference is only 15 minutes.

Today sunset times:

Portland Oregon: 4:48PM
SchwäbischHall: 4:49PM

Still love you Nalf 🙈

I spent a winter in London and it was kind of depressing how the sun didn't come up until about nine in the morning, rode along just above the horizon until about 3:30 PM and then set. It was awful. I flew home for Christmas and when I got off the plane San Francisco was so bright, sunny and warm (65F) that day. My mood immediately improved.
