Rebel News personality David Menzies was arrested Monday for allegedly assaulting a police officer while trying to ask Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland questions. The video of the encounter appears to show an officer stepping into Menzies' path while the media personality was carrying his microphone in the parking lot of a suburban strip mall. Charges were later dropped after police found 'no credible security threat,' York Regional Police say.

That is corrupt and disgusting.

If a cop gets in your way and bumps into you, they claim that you assaulted them? That cop should be fired.

Accidentally bumping into someone isn’t assault, never mind him purposely stepping in front of the guy with a premeditated gang of other cops hovering close by. This is DISGUSTING

The way Canadian police have acted the past few years has turned many of us who respected them into people who believe the police to be acting against the very people they have sworn to serve. Disgraceful, disgusting and dangerous to the Canadian people.

I am ashamed to be Canadian. I am glad my grandparents are not here to see the country they fought so hard to defend.

That police officer assaulted David PERIOD. Also as a police officer he is obligated to give his name and badge number.

Do you know how scary it is to have your freedom taken, to be handcuffed and put in a cage? To be at the absolute mercy of someone else? This officer needs to be prosecuted.

The first anchor saying that Menzies, who works for a news outlet, was only calling himself a journalist? He has been a journalist for many years!

The corrupt cop blatantly stepped in his path and blocked him with his body. Then they lied about it on film. They absolutely violated his rights and he should win a huge lawsuit over this disgusting abuse of power.

The police assaulted the reporter and then made things up to justify their failure. This is truly concerning.

Disgusting. If a cbc reporter had the same treatment at the hands of Conservative Party security we would never hear the end of it.

He was not an "employee", he was a journalist, asking a legitimate question. Something the cbc wouldn't recognize.

Disgusting treatment of a Canadian citizen doing his job. Charges were dropped as they had no case and now Menzies is suing.

This arrest was uncalled for and premeditated and can be seen as an unnecessary over reach of power. It's very disturbing!

This is an utter disgrace and the RCMP definitely created this mess by deliberately assaulting the reporter who merely asked a question.

A man who "identified himself as a journalist" CBC needs journalists like Menzies. I hope PP completely defunds CBC
