I am with Todd on this one, coded for 25 (+5 as a kid’s hobby) years, never wanted to be in the PM profession. Great question, loved the story Ryan. Thanks RR+TM 🌟

I studied for the PMP, but didn’t take it since my career went a different direction for a bit. By the time I acquired the title of Project Manager, it didn’t make sense to study for the PMP because the team was using adhoc Agile. What worked was managing expectations vertically and laterally and making sure I re-educated myself in Scrum and other Agile concepts. Traditional budgeting processes don’t work in Agile environments.

One more question answered for me. So many companies asking for PMP for Scrum master.

Great episode as always! 👍🏻

I just wanted to ask, why you guys have not talked about or had an episode on Scaling Agile or Scrum (SAFe, Nexus, LeSS)?

Hi guys, I totally agree with you. I'm Scrum Master and studied agile for long time, as I already studied the PM Book too. For certainty projects, PMP matches well, but for complex and uncertainty projects, like software devlopment, agile is amazing.
Nowadays I work with flight transportation and this business is crazy. Agile matches so good that I don't thinkl how could be possible with waterfall/traditional way of management.

Excellent show! I will send this video to my boss! NO PMP! Only Agile!

Talking about courses and certifications: Nexus and Scrum @scale are both from the creators of Scrum. What are your thoughts about it?

I have both my PMP and ACP and I think there is some value in the ACP. The PMP is not worth it if you're looking to do anything Scrum related.

How would you answer the question from a "continuous learning journey" perspective?
