The decade-old PlayStation 4, released all the way back in 2013, has continued to receive big, new exclusives from Sony, even if those old-gen ports feel outdated or inferior. But now, it finally seems like Sony is ready to move on and leave the aging PS4 behind. Well, almost ready…
It’s somewhat hard to believe, but the PlayStation 5 was released over two years ago on November 12, 2020. Yet, the last few massive Sony exclusives—Horizon: Forbidden West and God of War: Ragnarök—were released on the PS5 as well as the elderly PS4. And while it was nice that more folks got a chance to play these big games, it also felt odd to see Sony still supporting this weird era of cross-gen games into 2023. This was the same company whose boss, Jim Ryan, infamously said in 2020 that Sony had always believed in “generations” in response to Microsoft promising long-term support for cross-gen games, meaning you can only be in one era at a time. Fast forward to early 2023, and while Microsoft in 2022 failed to really ship…anything for any generation of Xbox, Sony did publish a few big titles. But most launched on both PS4 and PS5, seemingly going against Sony’s belief in separate, distinct generations.

Themes:
PlayStation Scene member and developer @Ifaicompa has released some new Custom Themes for PS5 Owners, including Themes based on God of War, and God of War Ragnarok. This follows his previous PS5 Custom theme releases. The God of war PS5 custom Themes include background music, animations, icons, and more. You can see these themes in action in the videos below.

You will need a hacked PS5 in order to install these custom themes. This release only works for the BD-JB version of the exploit (not Webkit) at the moment.

The developer has also released other themes, including Cyberpunk 2077, Elden ring, etc…

I enjoy the default theme of the PS5 but I definitely think consumers should have the option of themes as well

Online downloadable themes that you could get on the ps3 was so dope. Their were so many custom themes you could download without hacking it.

It’s crazy we don’t have themes. Themes used to be huge. I remember the free theme when you reserved a game from GameStop.

My problem with Callisto was the generic/boring story and the fact that in all the interviews they touched heavily how the game was focused on horror but this game wasnt scary at all, which sucks bc i personally love horror games

i found the ps4 themes to be tacky and i eventually just switched to the stock particle themes, with the ps5 i love how elegant and simple it looks while also being dynamic when you scroll through your library

I loved Forspoken, I don't understand what this hate is about the dialogue. If people want to hate something, then hate the plot holes in the story, or hate the fact that game is extremely glitchy on the PC unlike the Ps5, like actually place your disdain on something that is real and not made up, as all it does is presume premediated hate.

What's really missing is music virtualize and ability to record movies to hard drive to watch later alongside ultraslow play and rewind to observe production errors.

There’s not a theme is this world I’d jailbreak my ps5 for! Things like themes are the last thing I’m worried about, getting all ps5 games at 4k 60 fps is more important to me than a theme

11:08 Ps5 already has a web browser, the Ps5 partial jailbreak you mention is achieved via 2 ways
(1) Via webkit accessed through the Ps5's browser ala Ps4.
(2) Via the Fl0w's blu-ray exploit

Sony has been making me sad lately after I found out that Sonys ps5 fan that they give you isn’t the best fan for it .

To me the crazy part is I understand that it could mess with the card system on the interface to have themes but if they could figure it out for PS Vita I don't understand what's holding them back with PS5 I get it if they don't want to do that but if enough people are asking for it where they could probably make money on making some cool themes for your system I don't understand why it's not added yet because I have multiple cool themes from like my PS4 that I would love to use on PS5

I really don't mind the theme because the theme right now is dynamic enough the wallpaper changes with the game you play is pretty cool

It's not anti-consumer, the consumer bought the other console. But the Assumption there would never be a drive, that is now an option with the new singular platform

I focking love returnal. One of the best PS5’s games I’ve ever played. Was heartbreaking when the story unfolded tho :(
