Kenneth Valentine served as a special agent in the US Secret Service for 24 years. He protected three sitting presidents: Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama.

Valentine gives insight into what failures played out during the assassination attempts on former President Donald Trump and offers his thoughts on the future of the US Secret Service.

He also covers surveillance tactics, training, weapons, and US election protocols. He talks about the night of 9/11 when he was left alone to defend the White House after the president evacuated. He recounts the odder parts of an agent's job, like carrying Uzis in briefcases and avoiding fish thrown by protesters.

Today, he's a published author, leadership expert, and public speaker.

Secret service out here trying to do damage control

I'm sure JFK would've liked to know how the secret service actually works.

It's disgusting how much of the work equipment the agents are required to pay for themselves. Flashlights, hundreds of suits during their tenure... A hotdog & chips you didn't even choose to eat? While paid on a flat government employee salary scale and expected to take bullets for their protectee. Respect to every patriot that chooses this path, but on a surface level it sounds truly thankless

“part of the problem, was the protectee” lmao 😭

Its odd where some equipment's need to be bought by the agents themselves. At least give them like 80% discount on their suits or smth.

Training on roof-top engagement is a separate course, and you have to pay extra for that class. 🤣🤣

The job sounds like a scam. You have to pay for your own uniform, and if you are taken on a "business trip" on air force one, they also send you a bill for all the food you have to eat?

Buddy just describes how to actually manhandle the president. That's hilarious to me

Kenneth Valentine is a very badass name, it even sounds like a video game boss. Very fitting for a person who is a veteran of the United States Secret Service, and I'm not just saying that because my first name is Valentina, lol 😂

At least this guy admitted the Trump event was a failure on the SS's part.

Based on the performance during the assassination attempt, it seems like the secret service doesn’t actually do anything at all.

7:08 I heard about this one from Sec. Ash Carter… he said that jumbo jet entering restricted airspace and heading towards the direction of The White House, everyone was on such a high alert and when they scrambled fighter jets, upon flying close to the cock pit, the fighter jet pilot noticed that the pilot of the jumbo jet has fallen asleep, so they had to patiently follow that plane out of the restricted airspace.

😮‍💨 imagine that

His description of the 9/11 response is distressing; the Secret Service never anticipated an aerial threat before 9/11?

You have to feel for agents who think they'll be making a meaningful sacrifice, then they are obliged to risk their lives for someone who has promised to take apart all parts of government that guarantee integrity, rule of law, & democracy

Been down to FLETC. The heat is a different beast. Other than that some of the best training I ever received. Great memories.

I'm sure it's a slip up, but he did just talk about a 40mm pistol at 11:13
