Legend says the braid is still sitting there. Have you let go of NYC? Or are you fighting the good fight? Comment below!

As someone who lives in Dallas and lived in NYC. I get it. NYC is like the most interesting bf/gf you'll ever have. It gives you life but it's toxic AF. Dallas is a more stable and reasonable option, but leaves one wondering if this is all there is to life? To anyone who needs to hear this put the focus on yourself. Fix you first. If you are not fixed, you just taking unfixed on a tour.

Was born and raised in NYC, first gen immigrant child. People don't understand *why* NYC got so expensive. It wasn't the immigrants or natives' faults. Not to mention, the policies that are leading to New York's in-affordability were easily voted in and they can be easily voted out, but people don't like to hear that.

"NYC is like a reusable bag, it's up to you to remember to bring it" ~ those are the wisest words I've ever heard 🔥

I know what you mean about the appeal of an international city. There is nothing like it. But I am older now and just moved to the sticks because I can't live in a place dictated by those who don't have its citizens' best interests at heart. I can't sit in a tiny room watching the town burn (literally and figuratively) around me. So I've chosen shared values over glamour, books over conversations, and nature over art. Not sure that it's the right decision but time will tell. You'll know when to go. In the meantime, enjoy it.

“No! I’m not career minded and I’m ready to be a housewife! “ Amen!

Living in New York is like going on a grocery trip with a parent who likes to browse. Go in, find what you're looking for, and get out. Love you Ms. Stamps!

I love you girlll. You said you didn’t want to settle in life but you kinda are with NYC. You’ve mentioned a lot that basically you have to be in NY because of youtube but not necessarily because you enjoy it. That’s settling Kelly🥲 Choose happiness! You’re going to get your views regardless. You’ll grow regardless. Maybe not at the pace you want but don’t let the algorithm make you miserable.

A career is just a way to have your basic needs met. If you want to make it more than that, that's your choice! I work at a grocery store and where I find meaning in life is anywhere but my job, and I feel very fulfilled. I also feel like I really contribute to society through my unpaid volunteer work. And I'm glad I don't have a job that takes all my time so that I have time to volunteer. You don't have to be paid for what you do to contribute to And you can grow so much as a person without focusing on your career if that's what you want.

Growing with open-minded people is so great. I love my long conversations with my closest friends about life, wealth, and business ideas. Thanks for your words of wisdom Kelly!

I lived in Texas for years and went back to NYC where I grew up, but I traveled to Texas recently after many years and now considering going back to live, even though NYC is my hometown and forever be in my heart, I am just done with this city, there is just a better living opportunity outside of it.

Long time watcher, first time commentor. Another angle to your NYC experience is that you’re not hear to directly work for a company or be a student. Those two atmospheres would provide you with a diverse group of people that provide a lot of growth and enjoyment to your time in NYC. Trust me, NYC coworkers are the most interesting of any work culture out there. I have literally laughed till I cried and been able to be as candid with others while working or going to school with great people. This was the most important thing I took from the post undergrad-entry level faze of my life.. the relationships. All that said, you’re completely open to so much and I love that about you but it is fact that your not really here for the same reasons as others your age. As a NYC native (who’s lived in a few other countries/states), we tend to take untraditional work/career paths as unserious and that’s not really fair.

I think it’s good for everyone to experience city life, it has so many opportunities and exposes you to so many people. But in the long term it can be expensive and lonely so it’s not for everyone to stay

I agree, that we (introverts) tend to be more open and enjoy the company of select people. Some people can bring out my more outgoing side more than others.

I have this vibe of being at peace and connected to the world from my city, but it’s when I’m in London. I’m from Baltimore, and I enjoy New York, but in my 30s I’m just really liking life outside of the USA.

Your nomadic life may not be about finding self in those cities. You have to start within. Find yourself. Finding yourself is about being honest with self. For a lot of people that's hard to do

Welcome back to NY, Kelly! I've been living in NYC for over ten years now, and I don't think I'll ever leave. There's so much life in this city, every time I go away I miss it so much.

“small town simple minded” Hymm I live miles from a small town and many more from a big town, I think we just put a higher value on other things. My front door is never locked, my dogs have never had a leash or a collar. Yesterday I sat and watched wood peckers in my bird bath for a hour. I am far from simple minded, but very much enjoy a simple life. But it takes all kinds to make this world go round. God Bless till next time.

My own personal interests definitely align more with your NYC content, but that aside, i really do think the pace of such a bustling city makes for a much more interesting and fulfilling career trajectory! Speaking as someone who spent time living in suburban bay area and then moved back to LA where I grew up, coming back here has invigorated my lust for life and made me feel more intentional about my every day choices, where I go, what I do, etc. I even put more effort into my appearance when I live here, and find it much easier to make friends. In my 20's, these are all really important to me. I have all the time in the world to live comfortably and quietly, once I'm retired etc.

NYC is the place I belong, but it's not worth it unless you're rich. I'm not doing roomies, I'm not doing tiny apartments. Nope! I visit a few times a year when I can but that's it. The prices have always been high, but right now they are insane. Inflation and we're in a recession, too. No Mam. Worst time to be in the most expensive city in America.
