On the subject of gun control, I am a gun owner. What makes me worried is the people that want to talk gun rights, without talking about the responsibility that goes with owning a gun. "My rights" is the argument of a child. "My responsibilities" is the argument of an adult.

Former UK cop. For contrast: I once seized a shotgun from a middle aged man because his doctor wrote a note to the police because he was concerned about the guy’s mental health and the amount he was drinking. He was allowed it back if he got treatment and his doctor wrote back to us clearing his concerns. The guy wasn’t happy but accepted that his weekend clay/bird shooting would have to take a back seat for now until he was better

So,
I lost my 3rd class Medical for my Private Pilots license after 9/11 as I was on SSRI medication for a few months.
Ultimately another doctor figured out I was depressed due to my corporation going bankrupt.
Apparently the FAA thought I might fly into a building or crowded public place.
And, it has taken years to get my medical clearance to fly again.
In the USA, we can take a persons private pilots license for being depressed,
But we can’t take their permission to own weapons?
How dumb are we?

The GOP says gun owners don't want the government on their business. Totally fine with the government being all up in a woman's business. They need to be voted out.

They keep saying it’s mental health issues but don’t want to do anything to solve it. They say it’s video games but other countries have video games but not the gun violence.

There's a kid (22) on our street who we've known for years who has clearly developed some serious mental health issues in the past several years. This is very apparent to everyone based on his actions. We know the family has guns. We know they don't think he is dangerous or perhaps are afraid of him. We know the cops have come to their house for mental health issues. He is a ticking time bomb and there is nothing we or anyone else can do. We live btw less than a mile from schools and he has an obsession with how schools did him wrong. Everyone on our street is afraid of him and of course, he drives around with a Trump flag on his truck. We live 15 minutes from where Trump's attempted shooting took place. Honestly....it's only a matter of time before he goes off. We need real gun control now.

American who lived in London for 11 years and now works in the Middle East. Here's the thing about blaming movies and videogames: all the teenagers in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, wherever, play the same games and watch the same movies as kids in the US, but only the US has a problem with mass shootings. Hmm... I wonder what the big difference between these places is then?

In 1972 my mom called the cops on my abusive dad and the cops showed up, asked my mom if he had guns, she said yes and they took the guns from the house and told my dad he could come to the station and get them when he was sober. He never did. He was too embarrassed. This is what needs to happen today.

I'm bipolar and schizophrenic and have been on 3 mental wards. Yet I can legally buy a gun in Texas because I went to the wards voluntarily. You have to have been there by court order for there to be a block. I don't own a gun and I should never be allowed to buy one legally.

Can someone please explain to a non-US person why registering a car at the DMV is fine, but registering a gun is crazy talk? I don't quite get it.

Jon Stewart is not afraid to criticize politicians on gun control. He makes extremely sharp and straightforward arguments for the need for immediate action. Unfortunately, many people still do not want to hear the truth.

Ban abortion, books and universal healthcare while fully supporting the right to own an AR15 with a bump stock.
That is the GOP in a nutshell.

Imagine having to register a car and every time that car changes owner you have to register it again. Can you imagine how impossibly complicated that would be. No way that would work.
