As a kid growing up in the late 60's and early 70's we raised Appies. Our stud was Chico Tonka B&O. Our most color producing mare was Money Creek's Appearing Day. Thhis combo produced us 8 foals, all 8 were blanketed. What odds.

I remember back in 1963 when I rode Appaloosa horses I was 21, and they were supposed to have very thin mane and tail but unfortunately that's not part of the standard anymore.

You know the true Appaloosa that Chief Joseph bread had what they called the Indian shuffle so they're actually sort of pacers and that Indian shuffle is what kept them ahead of the United States army and that's one of the reasons that the USA destroyed quite a few Appaloosas back then and the only reason we have any kind of residue of those is because there were certain Farmers or cowboys or certain people you know maybe ranchers that took quite a few of those horses or not quite a few I mean there were many many killed but some of them were able to grab the horses out and therefore they bred them I had appaloosas for 47 years I just got out of them because I'm 70 now but I know that at a time you were not allowed to show anything that had what they called the Indian shuffle nowadays I've watched quite a few of these recent Appaloosa things and they never talk about the the Indian shuffle and they don't seem to mention Chief Joseph a whole lot anymore so it's a conundrum to me, you do have some really mega beautiful Appaloosas I know another thing isn't mentioned is back when she's Joseph you know you could have specially mares born without color but as they grew older they would either color up or sometimes they wouldn't call her at all but they usually through beautiful Appaloosa falls so otherwise Chief Joseph would have taken him out of the herd so thank you for the short little picture of you horses they are gloriously beautiful good luck with them but at the same time if the Appaloosa is becoming a very popular horse where when I moved down here to southern Illinois the paint was the horse and the Appaloosas were made fun of and you know you're mentioning a full main entail while Appaloosas were known for having sparse main tails too which could have been a vitamin deficiency but that's something I don't know. God bless you and your animals

I rode for all of my youth and by far the very best horses I rode or owned were Apps. They aren't stubborn so much as uncanny smart. If you let them they will show you what you need to get on the same wave length. I will always, always hold these horses in the highest regard. No wonder Chief Joseph and his people tried so very hard to save their horses. They knew how the bloodlines would be destroyed by the U.S. cavalry as revenge against the Nez Perce for trying to escape to Canada.
