Coming from a 10-year-old Apple TV - I needed a new one - obviously... If I were to only need a new remote I figure the $60 price tag would be well worth it. How can a remote control be so great...
1- quickly open a new app with Siri
2 - new trackpad becomes intuitive very fast
3- having a mute button on it is well worth it - not having to dig up the television remote - Same applies for the volume and ability to start and shut down both with one power button.
4- the size is just right in the hand - the flat sides (ala iPhone 12) is gold
5- Rechargeable battery
6- Being able to easily use the controls (most used are the mute, volume & pause buttons) without requiring to pick the remote up is also nice (for me 50% of the time) Lots of smaller remotes are not so well designed in that way! After a few more days I end up using all of the buttons in that way & less so the trackpad part.

To turn it on I have to hold down the power button for a full five seconds. Is this normal? I noticed you didn’t really show this.

Slow and jittery gestures can be controlled by putting your screen to 4K SDR and in my point of view the screen looks more brighter and beautiful than HDR. It makes the experience 50% more smoother.

I only started loving my remote when I got a rubber grip case for it; which gives the slippery device some great grip feel.

If you press and hold the TV/Control Center button and the Volume Down button at the same time you can restart the remote itself. We had to do that the other day when the remote would no longer control the volume.

Anyway to go back to previous channel on spectrum cable. Say I'm on A&E and change to History channel. How do I go straight back to A&E without going back through the guide

Could I connect this via Bluetooth and use it with an old iMac?

It’s a really cool remote but it still lacks an input button. I wish Apple would add an input button (could go on the top left of the remote) and then make the power button turn the TV on / off with a quick press and turn the AppleTV off with a long press. Then it’d be the only remote I’d need as I have my AppleTV and video game consoles hooked up. As of right now, I’d need the Siri Remote + the TV remote just for power and input.

I received my new Siri Remote Friday, 5/21 and I love it. So much better than the older remotes. Feels good in the hand and works beautifully.
