The comics imply someone will betray the Lamb from a tarot reading by Clauneck but I interpreted that as Narinder since one of the cards was about a deal made in haste.

Ratau does say in the comics that there’s more to the lamb than he first thought, I think Ratau will slowly change loyalties in the First verse, ultimately leaving for his hut because Narinder’s power over him is to great and he wants to avoid hurting the lamb

I know I could be very wrong on this, especially because the comic is separate from the game. But...

If we go off of what happened in game, your followers become imprisoned or some of them do at least. I can also imagine Ratau having a "what have I done" moment.

Also though, if he is aware of Claunek's prediction, he may also be aware of the "A crown can't sit upon two brows." line. After all, it says a lamb will free the One Who Waits, but what happens after that is not said.

We also have to remember that there were other vessels before Ratau. And considering we don't know who or what any of them are, we can't say for sure. Also as you mentioned in another video, Ratau in game at least wasn't too keen on sacrificing either.

With that in mind, what if Ratau's attempt to sacrifice himself to save the Lamb is in his mind an atonement? If he sacrifices himself, surely Narinder would forgive him.

I'm likely very wrong, but it's what I think anyway!
