I was able to encounter Klunko and Bop in Darkwood in post game content where they talked about Ratau, and how they were a great leader just like us.

I say it before and I say it again. That fox will not get Ratau or my followers. Sacrifices only occur on the request of the followers themselves. Since I can revive them, it's not so bad!

Something funny happened on my last run through though. Early on, my fox follower, Len, asked me to sacrifice him. So I did. Later on, Eligos wanted Len to be back. I liked the idea since he wasn't in the cult long. Len got to max loyalty level... Where he once again asked me to sacrifice him! I was like Len, don't you want to live?!

This is why I created a copy of my save and sacked Ratau in the copy and 100% completed it there so the achievement pops up on steam

Fun fact: There’s a currently unused follower trait called “Ex-Cult Leader”, which allows that follower to increase another follower’s loyalty once per day.

So it’s entirely possible we might get to save Ratau from the fox and have him as a follower someday. Or it could be scrapped content, who knows?

I’d feel anything about it if they gave Ratau a bigger part in the lamb’s story, maybe saving u in some of the dungeons with health or invincibility like the mysterious stranger

The point is how far would you go for personal gain. You give a little, you give a little more, then a big ask since you’ve already shown a willingness to give, then finally the last one, the one that seems smaller but is far more personal. It would cross a line where you can’t just excuse the price to be paid. You could always refuse. But you’ll also never achieve what you must for completion. There is no bargain, no other source. Either live without that fulfillment or sacrifice what you value for a bobble. It’s valuable because it’s irreplaceable. It’s valuable because it made an impression on you, a foundation you built yourself around. And now your house will always be missing the vital piece of itself. You can patch it. You can build around it. But you’ll know something was there. And the erosion will follow with doubt and guilt. A scar never to properly heal, to eventually fester, And poison the body with its absence.
