Our blood-borne pathogens lecture is great. It's a long poem that parodies The Night Before Christmas poem. We get all the info while enjoying the rhythm and rhyme. Then the Head Nurse answers any questions.

Until a student is bleeding, and I am expected to clean it up and handle it. Custodial staff is legitimately busy, and "contracted" nurse can't/won't help without signed consent. Where are the gloves? Where are the bags to out the blood-soaked paper towels & tissue? The care and clean-up are real struggles 😣

My favorite was going to a PD for 3 straight days in MAY. Then they hand out the end of training evaluation for the training and ask the question - “How will you implement what you have learned here when you return to your classroom?” I thought I had a great response with - I won’t. Next Thursday is the last day of the school year. The teacher seated next to me had me beat. Her response - “I won’t be using it ever. I’m retired as of next Friday. Now let me ask, WHY DID I HAVE TO ATTEND A TRAINING THAT IS 100% USELESS AT ANY POINT IN TIME?” Yes, she wrote her question back to them in all caps. It was awesome.

Oh New York’s “Right to Know” video I could recite in my sleep that is state mandated.

“You have a right to know what chemicals you are exposed to in the workplace.” New York, my current education job is remote. If I don’t know what chemicals are used in my own home, that’s really problematic.

We had to take a pre-test and a post test for our blood born pathogens lecture. After so many years of hearing the same lecture, and having the same tests, I stopped even answering any questions on the pre-test so I could show improvement by getting all the questions on the post text correct. If you got the, both correct, you did not show improvement'

OMG. Every.Dang.Year. I just put those videos on play and continue working on something else in my classroom….Or I just check to make sure nothing new has been added and once l’m sure nothing has, l just check off that I’ve completed the training….AGAIN!
