Peter Mattei sings "Grosser Herr" from Bach's Christmas oratorio. Live recording from Hedvig Eleonora church 151220. Stockholm sinfonietta. Kent Jonsson, solo trumpet. Daniel Blendulf, conductor. Sorry about the sound. Only one stereo microphone was in use and was placed in front of the conductor. Nice for the orchestra but not ideal for the soloist.

Mattei is so sweet and adorable...listen to the 6 year Peter Mattei singing an Italian song followed by an interview...utterly charming. Here, he conveys the exuberance of the music by singing and "dancing" his way through the area...He's very athletic, and I could envision him flying down the Italian Alps on skis, formal "tails" flying and singing this at the top of his lungs, even in the "kalte und eisige Luft..." - a bit of a steal from his astonishing "Winterreise." Thank you, Par Fridberg...recording deficiency notwithstanding, this shines and always cheers me up. Tak!

Yes, Par, he does deserve the best of the best, in recording and video, but nonetheless, thank you so much for this...Even a poor recording of our "Divo" Maestro Mattei is better than no recording... and the beauty of the voice, and his animation, rise above the rest. He's a world treasure.

Amazing...I love the way he dances through the music ...that I can do...the VOICE... oh, Lieber Gott in Himmel, sehr schon! Bellissimo, Peter Mattei... I'd spend good money for a clear recording of this...but why hold his hands together - let the Italiano out...sprich mit der Handen...Hur vacker är hans röst och tolkning...

Not the best recording. How can you record when the mic is placed BEHIND the solist?? Very, very pity. Now I understand why the voice sounds so muffled. Not the singer's fault.

Bra inspelning ändå men visst en förstärkningsmick på Mattei hade inte varit dumt plus lite mer differtierat med flera stereo par i orkestern och en ambience mick längre bak.

the singer was supposed to be a dancer and not a bass-baritone. ;-) too many movements.
anyway, nice voice and nice technique.
