Here's our breakdown of Disney's Artemis Fowl Teaser Trailer!

Disney’s ARTEMIS FOWL releases in theaters on August 9, 2019!

Directed by Kenneth Branagh and based on the beloved book by Eoin Colfer, ARTEMIS FOWL follows 12-year-old genius Artemis Fowl, a descendant of a long line of criminal masterminds, as he finds himself in a battle of strength and cunning against a powerful, hidden race of fairies who may be behind his father’s disappearance.

The film stars Ferdia Shaw, Lara McDonnell, Tamara Smart, Nonzo Anozie, with Josh Gad, and Judi Dench. Judy Hofflund and Kenneth Branagh are producing with Angus More Gordon and Matthew Jenkins serving as executive producers. The screenplay is by Conor McPherson.

Why is butler black though he was asian in the books also casting a female Root takes away from hollys story as the first female captain and dealing with sexism. Mulch Diggums though is like perfect casting.

I hope that the fairies are shorter than humans. Given that the gun Artemis was using was designed for child-sized hands, I'm hopeful. But the Ho-chi Min fairy seemed human-sized (maybe using glamour). I hope that Holly's skin-color is more like described in the novels (dark nut-brown skin) than shown in the graphic novels. I hope they can do Mulch and Foaly justice. It's good that Artemis is played by an Irish actor. I wonder how thick is his accent.

Just to point out something, the fact that she cracked her keck was a dead giveaway that it was Holly for fans of the books. Its how she checks her magic.

Ooh I completely missed Mulch when I watched the trailer the first twenty times, thanks for pointing him out! I'm so excited!! :D I can't wait to see Foaly, he's my favourite.

Wait, of course it's Holly, it's not just the figure and the hair - she does the neck twitch thing that's mentioned in the later books as her way of getting the magic flowing 0.0

If they've read the books that far through and in that much detail maybe there is hope despite the ugly neutrinos and Butler's sudden deviation from Eurasia...

It’s interesting that you mentioned Butler’s reaction to the fairy and not Fowl’s. Did you have an ill-regard to Fowl having the such a surprised reaction, too? Sadly, I’ve never heard of Artemis Fowl until this trailer came out. At the same time, I can tell there is a consensus in the comments of the trailer that Fowl shouldn’t have had such a shocked reaction. There is also an agreement that the casting call was too “warm” and “soft” for a character like Fowl.

Lastly, it’s said that Commander Root being a female negates the value of Holly’s struggles to be the first female soldier. Do you have the same concern?

Id love to see this as a movie, but i hope they don't ruin it like the percy jackson series. But anyway, im super hyped to see it.

Can you guys please confirm that what Kenneth Branagh and the casting call said about Artemis not being evil were just jokes? Bc haha very funny, take away what made the books interesting.

I do not like the casting choices for Butler and Root. As hard as it would be to find a guy as HUGE and (respectable/wise?) looking as butler I think they could have gotten way closer then they did. Hell someone like Brok Lesnar, coulda fit the bill. Completley changing Root to be played as Judi Dench, also works against Hollys story as being like the only female fairy cop. Perhaps a James Jonah Jameson looking J.K. Simmons, could pick up the role? LOL.

Not being sexist but root is meant to be a man. Holly is meant to be the only female officer in the LEP and that is why she is so disobedient and gets criticism.
