First attempt at a mini terrarium

Today we try something new with the moss I purchased a few months ago. A mini terrarium!
▼▼▼More info bellow!▼▼▼

Since the product I wanted to review today is incomplete, I thought I would try a project I was thinking about for a while.: a mini terrarium!

I used a glass bowl that was featured in a Christmas video with orchids.. it was useless, I gave it a meaning :)) some compost and a few river stones.

The plant I think would go best with this project is a Selaginella moss, since it likes damp soils and very humid conditions. I will water the soil using a wash bottle that will help me durect the water only where I need it most.

Hopefully this will give me some experience before I try an Orchid terrarium :D

WOOOAH! This was really unexpected and awesome. I've tried to make bonsai- terrariums before but it didn't survive when I went on vacation. The area I live in is not that humid so the moss sort of wilted. HOPEFULLY THE TERRARIUM CAN GROW WELL!😁

You could add mini orchids in there!! Not seedlings, but some kind of mini orchid that likes humidity 😁

my terrarium attempts are always dissapointing whereas the orchidarium seems much more successful... good luck!

Pssst - if you dont close it, its just a glass flowerpot. Its much more interesting closed too, theres a microclimate inside with rain and everything.

If you would have a kind of mini-grass in there, it would look like a forest ;)

Hey Danny! I was looking at the terrarium's reflection of the greenhouse, and it looked like you were standing in same kind of wild balcony on top of the huge jungle trees, in the middle of the rainforest! Yeah, my imaginations are sometimes weird :D

don't matter if it's open or closed plant are still beautiful but I like having mine closed because it's like having your own eco system in the house and that make me smile lol

I was wondering your thoughts on putting an orchid in an enclosed terrarium? Can they withstand high humidity being as they are tropical plants? Or would they rot? Or could you keep them enclosed for a “rainy season” and then remove the lid and let them experience a “dry season.” Would love your input!!!

I saw on a few occasions, as first layers (I think some sort of fishtank filter) charcoal, followed by pebbles, or both mixed. However that were all "closed systems". What do You think about charcoal in this context?

Using at least half an inch of pebbles at the bottom, there will be no problems with water accumulating and not evaporating, putting the media directly may cause it to become putrid more easily because it remains in contact with the accumulated water.

How's this mini terrarium doing after more than a year? Just curious :D
I did something like this with some succulents, but they are dying very slowly...mocking me, probably:))
