I started this channel in order to document life as it gets lived. It's about where I live, how I live, where I travel, why I travel, and so much more. Eclectic is a good word for the content to be found here. I hope you will come along for the ride!

Solo travel is magical to me. The whole part about being able to make every choice about what to do without worry of other people’s wants and needs is special.

Solo travel is scary for a woman. In the last year I have started writing a blog. I have also been on a solo cruise during that time. Carrying around that journal made all the difference. I guess it was my companion. I could people watch, listen to music, eat and view the scenery...and write. Yes, there were times I felt alone-alone but I could write about that too. AND I was able to do the excursions I wanted to, just as you described.
This is an experience I am planning on repeating.
For single women of all ages (I am 69), solo travel is an exercise. You can stretch those travel muscles and become stronger for it. Ooh, I think I will go write about that.
Thanks for your video.

good video. I'm a 69 yr old female living in metro Atlanta & I often go to concerts alone. This year I have branched out to go to concerts alone that are out of town. I especially like to go to smaller venues and go to towns I may have driven through before, but not spent any time in. I sometimes stay in the town a couple of nights. So far, I have enjoyed them all!

Last year I took a trip to the city where I had graduated from university in 1977. I hadn't been back since then but I wanted to see the place one more time. My hotel was 5 minutes from the Art Gallery and it was the highlight of the trip. I had planned to go back the next day to spend time sitting in front of a particular portrait but there was severe flooding and had to cut short the trip. I also went to a restaurant for lunch and took great pleasure in leaving a very generous tip for the young staff who were so attentive and didn't make me feel awkward sitting by myself. A bittersweet trip as my health no longer allows me to travel. I can still see the painting that so inrigued me in my mind.

Great topic Tim! I love going to rock concerts alone, as well as going to see movies in the theater or eating alone in a restaurant. There is something very freeing about not having to take someone else’s preferences into consideration.

I think everyone should go on a solo adventures for few months at least once in they life, and i am sure that many will realize is the best experience they will ever had, and if you a senior even more reason to do it, i am just on a journey on a scooter across the Philippines for the last year and love it ✌✌

Tim, I cried when you said you'd be our first subscriber. It was the way you said it.

I love to travel! I retired early at 62 due to a health issue so traveling isn't a possibility right now. Over the years I've been up the east coast, traveled to Washington State and San Diego, to Mexico a few times, and once to Hawaii. Hopefully I'll be able to travel again soon.

Absolutely true and correct! Anywhere I go, I go hard researching where I'm going. I'm 64 female and I started travelling solo for the first time 6 years ago. I travelled solo from Australia, I've been to Vegas twice, Hawaii and New Zealand. I love the uncertainty, the unknown, doing what I want and when. I love the cultures and nature of places, where a few of my friends would just prefer to lay on a beach all day, I love that too, but not all day long when there are more enriching things to experience. The experiences I have had, I would never have had if I was with anyone else. I was very proud of my resilience even though I was nervous as all get out, and I did have some scary moments. I must say though, when I had a layover in LA airport, the customs guy really grilled me about why I suddenly decided to travel at my age (Iwas 58 at thetime), by myself and having no one to visit while there. That was awful, I think he thought I might have become a drug mule in my old age 😅🤦🏼‍♀️.

Good topic. Being deaf, I don't like the airport so I backroad a lot. Drive miles from the house and hit a road just because it looks interesting. Love Mom and Pop places. Stop were I want and stay as long as I want.

Here comes those hugs again! You hit on so many wonderful points in this video and made me decide that I’m finally going to go do what I’ve always wanted to do in a trip… alone! You were so in the right profession as an educator. Your videos prove that with every word!

I am very confident and resourceful and have traveled alone all my life. It was fine. But there is something to be said for sharing an experience with others. Now at 69 I am looking to have others make the decisions and engage in group travel.

Thank you for your videos..I enjoy them all..
I especially liked this one because my husband just recently passed away and I couldn’t pin point what my life feels like after being in a relationship for 57 years..
Now I feel independent… make completely my own decisions..and many of the other points you made in your video…thanks Tim👍

I mostly travel alone. Camping alone in a National Forest, or exploring a city. I love it because I always meet many interesting people and I am on my own schedule.

You are so right ! I’ve traveled alone in an Rv over the last 10 years. Everytime I come back home I can’t wait to plan the next trip. You only live once. Im 68 years old, and a woman. No excuses, just do whatever you want.

Coming from someone from the small city of North Pole THERE IS NOTHING AT THE ARCTIC CIRCLE, BUT A SIGN including a long ride getting there. 🥴

This is really speaking to me! For years, as a single, I’ve traveled with a companion (who let me plan everything!), but my next stop is South Africa. I want to do a safari—the eco/animal friendly kind! And none of my companions want to go. I’m going to do it by myself! Well, I’ll probably do a group tour.

I would imagine it is a lot easier to pick a place to eat!

I am just starting to travel alone. I'm in Canton, GA about 90 south of you. I can drive for 4-6 and be in the Smokies, the beach, Savannah, Charleston, Memphis, Nashville, etc. So that is how I will be testing the waters of solo traveling. If all goes well I will expand. I've always wanted to go to Paris. Please make this a series, including safety, packing, etc. Love your videos!

Solo travel is the BEST!!! Actually started traveling alone after graduating from high school - a trip to Washington, DC that lasted nearly two years - LOL!! That's another story.. One of my favorite solo trips was to Alaska. After graduating with an Elementary Education Degree, my goal was to move to Alaska and teach. Little did I know that hundreds of other new teachers had the same idea. I was not one of the 10 chosen ones to actually land a job. But, I ended up staying an extra three weeks just to explore the state. I should write a book about that trip as it opened my eyes, mind and soul to so many life altering experiences. Part of my travel plans during retirement is to "ride the rails" as much as I can. Trains have fascinated me since my first Alaska trip and I'm excited to plan long distance solo train travel beginning this fall. Should be FUN - just hope I don't turn into a hobo - LOL!!! GREAT topic and lots of wonderful insight and advice. One piece of advice that I can add to solo traveling is to walk with a purpose; look like you know where you're going even when you don't; and be confident in your decisions - always listen to your intuition!! Those "Godwink" moments really do happen and really do matter!! Safe travels!!

I agree with you that traveling alone allows you to do what you want, when you want and where you want. I also have liked traveling with others to share the experiences…and yes, there’s some give and take involved there! Enjoy your travels and thanks for sharing!
