The TRUTH About Gen Z's 'Entitlement'

Gen Z gets a bad rap as entitled, lazy, and whiny. But is that true, or should we listen to their complaints about things like 9-to-5 jobs? Glenn gives his message to Gen Z: Yes, your life is hard…because you’ve been lied to by a government that just wants more power, no matter how it affects you. Something is very wrong in America when you are working all day and still can’t pay your bills, or when you were told to spend a fortune on a degree that ends up being worthless. But the solution isn’t more government handouts. In fact, that’s a big part of the problem.

The ones I come across have virtually no empathy, but are wildly emotional when it comes to their own feelings. They haven’t had any work ethic and have virtually no drive or ability to put anything before their own comfort, even mildly, to get anything done.

I sold my 4 BR house and bought a tiny 600 sq ft house on 1 1/2 acres in Texas and homesteading it. All I have to worry about is utilities and taxes which are cheaper.

I never met a problem I couldn’t get past until the “government” got involved in my life.

Worked my entire life. I'm 75 & just retired & just worn out. Worked many jobs for what I could get to support my family. Almost no benefits. Social security is only $1200.00 a month. Still have a mortgage on my house. Got 2 old cars & try to keep them running. Got food to eat & pay my bills. These college graduates agreed to a loan. Pay it back. If I didn't pay my mortgage every month I would be homeless. Give me a break. They don't deserve anything but go to work & pay their bills they made. That's All.

I agree with you about hippies, was one, quit at 23 and became a teacher for 4 decades. I realize that it was the beginning, alone with women’s lib.

I'm glad you corrected yourself early in the video when you mentioned "health care" costs then zeroed in calling it "health insurance". So many people say "care" when it's actually "insurance" and that started with gov't spokespeople, used to scare people into thinking the gov't provided care rather than insurance. They implied you could not get care unless the government plan provided it. Just another scare tactic. I wish we would all use the proper term; it would raise awareness and help erase fear.

They've been saying for years that the next generation to reach adulthood would be the first in America to on average be worse off financially than their parents. And now here we are.

I'm 33 going on 34 in Sept. I was in high school when the first apple phone came out and media was getting big. I wish it never came. It destroyed this country and culture.

I'll still never understand people when they say they don't have health insurance. The last four jobs I've had including my current job provides healthcare. For the last 16yrs I've worked part time and have had the best health insurance in NY state. I went through cancer treatments & surgery and only paid a $10 co-pay each time. One of my scan statements was $64k and I only paid $10! Thankfully my current job is a union! $40k/yr + 100% health insurance and I only work 25hr/wk!

I'm GenX and I knew in the 90s that I'd never get social security.

As much as I am glad they invented cell phones and computers, I wish they never came up with social media. We would have much happier without it.

It wasn’t easier growing up in the early 70’s living costs were lower but wages were also, and we were not being pumped with pharmaceutical drugs by Dr’s either

This was so good that I listened to it twice! Then I forwarded it to my Gen Z daughter.

Social media began this process. We were warned back then the internet would have two effects; One was the benefit of information and communication being exchanged far faster, and the explosion of users poisoning one another by it.
Tell me - was it worth it?

I’m an older gen Z (1999) currently live with my family & try to save as much as humanly possible, the American dream isn’t dead but it’s on it’s last leg. It is possible to buy a house Gen z you will just have to be wiser than the previous generations since assets like housing is hyper inflated and our purchasing power has been destroyed. Personally I live in the south east part of the U.S. housing is inflated but possible to attain still, I feel that Gen Z will have live at home for 5 - 10 years & attempt to save up a down payment on a house, it can take a long time but it is working well for me. Lastly, I recommend finding a company that pays for college, I got a degree debt free and experience in my industry thanks to my company. Like I said Gen Z you just have to set yourself up wiser now when making your moves !!
