PARANOiD DJ - 'What We Are' (Hazbin Hotel)

As of this release, it's been more than a full year since I last created something related specifically to Hazbin Hotel. While I dabbled in other spaces and achieved some great things that will be coming soon, people were wondering if I would ever come back to revise my original interpretations with 3 years of improvement and canon information.

The individual tracks I made for both Vox and Valentino back in 2021 are still some of my favourite pieces I've made, but they are clearly out of date in a lot of ways. Since they were created from information before the show's launch and based on accounts and sources that have now been rendered non-canon/inaccurate, a lot of details regarding their dynamic and indeed their actual voices needed to be changed to be compliant to the final series.

'What We Are' is an attempt to kill two birds with one stone. Themed around a fictional broadcast hijacking from VoxTek in the wake of the Season 1 finale, both of these overlords make their intentions to seize control of the realm now there's no one to really stop them known in a fit of boasting and bragging that only these two could accomplish. To that end, I've also attempted to match their fully realised voices in the show, though with some little bits of blending that let my original interpretations make a reappearance for old time's sake.

The track itself is heavily inspired by the shades of heavier House music and Techno from the likes of artists such as Feed Me, Joyryde and more. This is one of the more ravey tracks I've produced without going into Hard Dance territory and I'm extremely proud of making use of a brand new suite of tools just for this track. To that end, each part of the track is subtly themed around each Vee, with purely electronic and bitcrushed noises for Vox while hints of sax riffs and acoustic guitar accompany Valentino.

Once again, Cycoriot comes to show how much of an incredibly talented artist they are, providing amazing visuals of these characters and their respective spaces (along with a little cameo). And MrDemoVE, who's video creation skills have always been top notch, takes those assets and creates something that even Vox would think is eye candy with their slick and detailed editing.

1:53 "Let me feel your lust" is a really good detail because Val is a copycat of Asmodeus, The Sin of Lust and is trying to mimic him in every way.
