Are you deceiving yourself? How do you know if you're self-deceived? James chapter 1 is an incredible book filled with so much wisdom! As you read through it, you may notice a theme pop up: self-deception. To deceive oneself is to fail to admit to oneself something that is true. I don't know about you, but I don't want to live a lie - I want to face the truth about myself, whether or not it's pretty! Absolutely agree that all our gifts (not to mention our entire being) come from God. However, we do need to put in the effort. Now if we get puffed up by that effort, that is very bad, but there are people who don't put in any effort and that is different from those who do. A prayer I've had recently is God, please show me the difference between being prideful and standing up for what's right/doing the right thing. God bless you!
