Active vs. Passive vs. Implicit Learning

There’s a lot of discussion about “active learning” these days. But what exactly does that term mean and is it possible for learning to be “passive”? In this month’s office hours, Dr. Nebel discusses these issues and how implicit learning might be a better counter to active learning.

Dr. Nebel, such a thought-provoking way of viewing this! It's easy to think of active and passive learning in black-and-white boxes because of how we can identify their signs, but viewing it in a continuum helps us organize what is actually helpful in learning and to what extent.
