Back in 1971 when I first started playing it was driven into my head the importance of rhythm guitar. Only the most dedicated pay attention to that wisdom. And boy, it's so much fun! Nothing like locking into a groove and getting goosebumps! 😃😎🤓 Great episode.

Brett, one of the many things I love about you is that you do not take yourself too seriously, but you're seriously great. And you are lighthearted and fun. This is a super valuable lesson. If we play guitar for someone (1 person or 1000), it's not burning lead chops that will make them tap their foot or dance, but laying down a tight infectious rhythm groove (especially great tone, like you are getting here). Many guitarists do not realize this or how fun playing rhythm can be.

I have wanted to play guitar since i was a kid and heard Queen, then AC/DC for the first time. I waited 50 years to finally start fullfilling my dream (it's never to late), and now after 4 years, i can start the drummachine and loop some decent jams! Yes, it is the best thing ever, thanks to people like you, without which i would never be as good, being self tought! Cheers Brett, greetings from Switzerland, Josh🎸🤘🎸

Great lesson! Best thing I ever did was start paying attention to the kick and snare drums on my looper pedal drum tracks, Just like you did here, muting the strings at first with every kind of rhythm and tempo. That has helped my rhythm and sence of timing immensely. Thanks again

Another amazing video! It always amazes me how it’s so easy to over look the basics. This video probably just increased my skill 80%!! I find myself spinning my wheels by playing the same things over and over. This lesson really opened my eyes to always remember the fundamentals and build from there. Thanks for another great lesson!

Great lesson. There are so many songs that have amazing rhythm guitar in them so there is an almost endless supply to learn from. One of my favorites of all time is Mick Ronson, especially his work with Bowie. Panic in Detroit is a fantastic song to learn.

Tele sounding epic Brett! You’ve been holding it down for Nashvilles phi nest for a min now. Good Rhythm is absolutely my favorite thing to do. Love listening to the other musicians in the band while jamming.

I love this! Sometimes I forget to come back to these basics and just jam out a bit on good rhythm. That Tele is just dripping with rock rhythm tone

This is why I like the digitech trio. It's a great tool for developing rhythm.

BRETT PAPA, it would be nice if you made a video lesson about showing the 1st inversion, 2nd inversion, 3rd inversion for open chords and barre chords. Most guitarist only know the common open chords and barre chords but they don't know which inversion the chords are in and how to do the other chord inversions across the guitar neck. This will make you a better rhythm guitarist.
