Michael S Heiser's re-interpretation of Genesis 1-3 is accepted by Christian intellectuals and theologians, but I find his analysis problematic. So, here's what I have to say about it.

Good to hear someone who has not joined the Heiser cult.

Lately I have been watching Michael's video series about angels. Many of the things he says are interesting and thought provoking. Still need to fact check some of it. This is the first time I heard about his analysis of Genesis chapters 1 through 3. It would be helpful if you provided links in the video description to what you are rebutting. I agree with your analysis of Genesis but it would be nice to see where you are getting your information about Michael's teaching. I know you reference it in the video but it is always easier to click on a link then to go digging through a search engine with the hope of finding the right link.

Honestly, you’ve misunderstood and misrepresented what Michael was saying, and what he believes. This is a terrible video. I suggest you, at minimum, read his books before posting videos like this.

I apologize sir but you have misunderstood a great deal about the creation story, however let me tell you what you got right before I tell you what you got wrong. You are correct in saying that there is a great deal of misinformation and misconceptions involving the creation story. You however are exacerbating these misconceptions not alleviating them. I also do not follow or subscribe to Mr. Heiser’s theories. Not to say that he is right or wrong, but just that I’ve only listened to a few of his views and like you and most people he is right about some things and wrong about others. This is not a slight or insult to you or him by the way. I am the Soapman. That stands for Son Of A Preacher Man. I am 46 years old and I have studied the Bible my entire life, and not always because I wanted to. There is no way I’m going to explain everything in this comment section but here is the short answer and explanation, and I sincerely challenge you to disprove or discredit Anything that I have said so far or am about to say. Ready? Ok here we go. The creation story which was given to us by the greatest of all prophets, Moses (God says that Moses is the only man to ever see and speak to God face to face, and in plain language, as would friends speak) is referring to the proven Scientific 🧪 Process. Moses gave us the creation story which was passed down to him from the Egyptians. It was first established by the Sumerians, before being passed down to the Babylonians, then the Assyrians, and subsequently the Egyptians. If you do not understand the people who wrote the story, then you could not possibly understand the story itself. Ok now here is where you are going astray. You keep referring to the “Supernatural.” Sir….the Bible “Never” uses this word, therefore it is YOUR word, and not scripture, but here is some scripture for you. The Bible states that we are to “not add to, or take away from the words of the Lord thy God, ” and unfortunately this is exactly what you are doing. Once again I implore you to disprove or discredit ANYTHING that I am saying. I’m going to end this here but before I do I urge you to go to my channel Soapman and watch the second episode entitled Moses and the Big Bang Theory (not for clicks, clout, or views, but for understanding, as is the reason I made it in the first place) where I prove in plain English that the creation story given us by Moses is referring to Science, not religion, not ideology, and NOT the Supernatural. I hope you do not take this personally. Thank you 🙏 very much.
