Once we walked from the Astor theater to the Empire State building...not that it was horrible, but sometimes NOT taking the subway is a mistake. Get a MetroCard and save your feet.

Whenever we go to NYC on vacation, we will put our metro cards (along with our usual tip) for the hotel maid if they have anything left on them! We usually leave a small note with them so they know that they can use them :)

Great tip on not booking the Broadway shows in advance and letting the weather dictate the day and time. Definitely going to follow that advice.
