That baby basically crashed like windows, bluescreened, and then hit the reset button to boot again

Husband: "Hey, honey! The baby passed out and his lips are blue!"
Wife: "It'll turn off and turn back on, just give it a sec."

As a former babysitter who had no idea this was even a thing, i would DEFINITELY not appreciate this happening 💀

As a first time father, my son would do this every night for the first 4 weeks of his life. After many gp visits, turns out it was silent reflux causing pain. The day we gave him medication was the first day he smiled 😢

1. Stand up and talk to the baby if that happens.

2. Blow into baby's face followed by talking with a calm positive tone

Baby gets mad- "I'm out this bitch"

As a mother myself, my heart dropped when I seen that baby's blue lips. My daughter is 2 and I still check on her like she's still a newborn

The mama's, "Oh!" Really hit my heart. She was so relieved and so terrified, i cant even imagine.

For some reason babies have an instinct to open their mouths when a stream of wind blows past their face. It could trick the baby when they are holding their breath while crying. Grandma used to tell us this and to never leave a baby crying to avoid such things from happening.

My nephew did this because I was holding him & not his mama who was vacuuming. He cried out but didn't inhale, turned purple, my eyes widened as I panicked because he wasn't taking a breath inward, I was like "BREATHE KID!", he almost passed out, his eyes rolled & he inhaled like a gasp continuing his cry. I ran to his mom & she told me he has done this many times to even passing out completely. Luckily when they do pass out the body knows to naturally breath & they wake up. Then I learned you should blow on their faces when they do this, to remind them to breathe.

Please do more shorts like this. It's important that new parents see this. Maybe infant CPR or how to clear airways when an infant aspirated vomit.

I did this until I was about three years old. Nobody could tell my parents what was going on (this was the 70s). I genuinely have never heard of anyone else doing this, and never knew it had a name. Apparently everyone in my family got to a point where they just took it and stride. "Oh, she's stopped breathing. She'll pass out in a second and then she'll start again."

That's the scariest thing I have seen.

That must be absolutely terrifying for a parent to see happening. Imagine watching the baby you love try to involuntarily kill itself (from the parents' perspective).

As someone who had never been around children before having my first, we need more info like this spread around

I had that, so since having my daughter, I’ve taught her breathing exercises since she was 6-9 months old. She’s 2 1/2 now and knows to force herself to take deep breaths when she can’t calm herself down. If she can’t take them, I take a huge breath and let her feel my body with her against mine, then I pull back and blow on her neck so she can feel my breath.
I never knew blowing on them did anything, I just thought it made sense that if she could feel my air it may help her focus on calming down.
No passing out like this yet from her, just a few close calls! 🎉

Babies experiencing breath holding spells, choking, and being so congested they can't breathe are terrifying moments but very common. Appreciate your mother's, because there were countless times you've avoided death because of her.

My wife and I would blow air into their face to get them to breath. Their eyes would widen as they take a big’ol gulp of air. Luckily it worked every time for us.

My daughter used to it a lot whenever she was upset. It stopped around 2 years old. Indeed if you gently blow their face it works and they breathe again. Everyone in my family had that including me. But in any case pls visit a doctor for help and advice.

My boss's son did this. I worked in childcare at the time so she brought her son to the center while she worked, and if he got upset he'd hold his breath until he passed out. The first time she freaked out (obviously, we all did) and called 911. After that, her mom told her she did it as a kid too.
Whenever he would do it afterwards we would have to lay him flat on the ground and blow into his mouth/face and most of the time he would start breathing again. Definitely freaky.
Her younger son did it too but not as often or as bad.
