Upon finishing my upload I noticed I spelled potatoes as potatos. Oops.

Ingredients
1 onion
2-3 potatoes
1 summer sausage
1 can maple cured bakes beans
*You can also use a pound of ground beef instead of the summer sausage but the summer sausage is great because it is portable and can be carried in your backpack without refrigeration.

Directions
1.) Slice potatoes, boil 15-20 minutes until soft
2.) Slice onions and sauté for 5–10 minutes, add salt and pepper
3.) Slice sausage, add to onions, cook additional 2 minutes
4.) Heat up baked beans, drain potatoes and add all together
5.) Enjoy!

I loved your article in Survivor's Edge. On top of all of 7uthe training, bushcraft, survivalism and outdoor stuff you do, I love your deep connection to nature. I too feel this connection to nature. And the more bushcraft/camping and outdoor stuff I do, the stronger this connection gets. I love how you dedicate much your time to conservation. I love what you said about taking your shoes off out in the field. Years ago I used to do this and loved it. I think it's time to begin doing it once more. I took up instinctive shooting with a "take down bow in the past month and a half. To see and ) hear that you too did this was very motivating. You've really INSPIRED ME. Thank you Melissa. 🙂

Melissa: Thanks for the recipe -- I'll give it a try. Here's one for you, assuming you have a Dutch oven: Beer-braised beef with onions. I'll make this when feeding four or five campers, usually delegating someone else to grill some veggies or put together a salad.
Ingredients
• 1 whole Chuck Roast, 2 1/2 To 4 Pounds
• Salt And Pepper To Taste (Be Generous!)
• 3 Tablespoons Olive Oil
• 4 whole Onions, Peeled And Sliced
• 5 cloves Garlic Chopped
• 2 bottles Beer (I like Alaskan Amber for this recipe, but your call)
• 1 teaspoon Ground Thyme
• 1/2 teaspoon Rosemary Leaves
Preparation Instructions
Get a good bed of coals going.
Heat oil in a large dutch oven over hot coals.
Season meat generously with salt and pepper. Sear meat on both sides, about 2 minutes per side. Remove meat from pan. Lower heat to medium by elevating the Dutch oven or spreading out the coals.
Throw in onions and cook until you begin to see some color. Add garlic and stir for 30 seconds. Pour in beer, and add thyme, rosemary, and salt to taste---about 1 teaspoon. (Do not undersalt!) Add meat to pot, push to submerge, and place lid on pot.
Cook in oven for 2 1/2 to 3 hours, or until meat is fork tender and falling apart.
Shred meat with two forks. Serve on dinner plates and spoon juice and onions over the top.
Serve with very crusty bread to sop up the juice

Can we all take the time to acknowledge how peaceful these sounds are? This is like perfect to make a relaxation soundtrack for sleep.

Edit

That little dog is so cute. Especially when he uses his little feet to pidder padder in the water like that.

I liked the way you used the same water you just washed the dog's butt in. That is the secret ingredient.

Recommend P-38 and P-51 can openers as a much safer and easier way to open cans. Around $5 on Amazon and small enough to carry on key ring or necklace.

Fun video- I'd cook the sausage first- that way you have some rendered fat for the onions ;)

I didn't know you could be more beautiful😮❤. That hair is simple and super cute. And the way you showed off the food🤤 it's like I could smell it. The dog was cute too. I half expected to see more knife stuff but this was a pleasant change.
Much love and continued success to ya🥰🤗. You are truly a positive inspiration.
Thank you
